On a side note, has anyone ever thought that perhaps the dense irritating prick newbies we get are perhaps mute out there in the RealWerlde™ and type funny and use offensive language badly because they've nothing to relate it to?

I like that idea, I'm going to keep it. Mute annoyances are a nice quaint fun thing.

i did actually read that newbie guide, picked up a few pros and cons of these forums.
Ive read some of the other threads fellow n00bs have contributed to and i can see you must of reduced them to tears so i was expecting a shitload of abuse too

It must be 50x50 pixels, you have to provide the source, as the forums don't host them, so its worth getting some webspace, if you're into that sort of thing.

I think Ono sort-of pointed it out but not very clearly; they can host avatars - there's an option to upload one from a chosen location on your hard drive.

Nice article, anyway; should be appended to the BW FAQ.

I think all avatars are stored on the BW server anyway, as it's the only way they can limit the size. You're not saving anything by uploading to web space, so just upload it from hd.
