Is this their LLU version of Infinity? Their rollout date for my line is the same as my infinity date so that's what I'm assuming?

Its their own version yea, Infinity isnt going to 80mb at the same time if I read this article correctly making TalkTalk the fastest out of the 2 for now atleast - I may be wrong tho, either way its nice to see the UK is catching up with net speeds atleast, shame our upload speed is still dog shit tho :(

Yeah the 40mb version is being retired for new customers, this is just the next stage of infinity - the trial is open to all isps on the same exchanges.

11/07/2011

For Information
For all CPs
Withdrawal of the GEA-FTTC 40/15Mbit/s product variant from the Openreach Product Portfolio

Openreach announced at the June NGA triallist Working group (TWG) the exciting changes to its GEA-FTTC product options made possible by a planned band plan implementation and of its intention to remove the GEA-FTTC 40/15Mbp/s product variant from further sale as part of that plan. This will be followed up with a new GEA-FTTC 80/20Mbit/s product variant in the near future and the complete withdrawal of the GEA-FTTC 40/15Mbit/s product variant.
From July 31st 2011, new sales of the GEA-FTTC 40/15Mbit/s product variant will cease and orders will no longer be able to be placed as of that date. Existing customers will remain on the GEA-FTTC 40/15Mbit/s product variant which will be fully supported until alternative options become available.
With the arrival of new product options, Openreach will work closely with CPs and their customers to ensure a smooth transition away from the GEA-FTTC 40/15Mbit/s variant to an alternative suitable product variant.

Still waiting for Sky to offer this. My cousin in London has Virgin 50 or 100 meg but today at 16.00 my 20 meg ADSL was faster than his it really seems like the sell far more bandwidth than they can supply.

Download Speed: 37688 kbps (4711 KB/sec ) Upload Speed: 1690 kbps (211.3 KB/sec ) - Basically what i'm getting with 40mb optical fibre atm, talktalk are sadly capped at 200kb/s upload which I thought was rather shit but I refused to go with BT so I had to make do :p I'm hoping with the upgrade to 80mb the upload goes up aswell and doesnt stay capped at 200kb/s... it would be rather bollocks if it does, one would expect it to rise to 350-450kb/s atleast.

They dont :p lol or havent with me in the last 1-2 years

Taken off my account

"Usage for March 965.47GB
Your download usage can take up to three days to update. Please be aware, until then, your usage will show as zero on individual days on the graphs below.
Your download allowance: Unlimited"
Still going at full speed ahead.

They arent that bad, most people have had issues with customer support than anything else but thats easily sorted out :p just dont phone them or you'll end up talking to an indian guy/girl that cant speak fluent english and will ultimately get very frustrating. Instead mail their tech support which is british, I even e-mail tech support about billing related issues and they sort it out generally :p

200kb upload?

The whole point of a connection like that is the upload! I'm on 16mb as is, if i go from "cup of tea" to "half a cup of tea" for my download I don't give a fuck, the main thing is I have 2mb upload atm and can't do what I want to do ( stream my gaming at 1080p ), have to use medium quality 720p :(

on infinity w/ that upload I could stream to twitch/own3d at the same time in full quality 1080p.
