not wanting to tempt fate or anything................:uhoh:

but I'm relativley new and I do have the inert knack of talking complete bollocks a lot of the time but nobody's told me to fuck off(yet) for a number of reasons. one being I didn't turn round and say "RAH you're all shite fuck off and die" or something of that ilk. how the hell can you expect people to be nice to you when you're not exactly sweetness & light to them?

ps I know you didn't say "RAH you're all shite fuck off and die", I was Exaggerating

theriven: well yeah, I can accept most of your views there, even if the post was kinda hard to read :-p (Scooba, go read up about dyslexia before replying like that next time...)

Things progress... it used to be all *unf*s and *spludge*s filling up the boards but then that phase kinda got flamed off & sanctioned in the Rune forum. Then there was the whole post-humourous(sp?)-pictures-with-big-words on them crap spamming up threads, which suffered the same fate during the infamous HLCCL invasion.

Flaming newbies has been cut down quite a bit, unless they happen to be really really annoying, when attempts to make them leave are often made. Infact I can remember various threads being started on the matter (one particular in-depth debate about improving the forums started by Xavier, only to be followed up by an eloquent "fuck off Xav", by Exor... decide for yourself). Some of those attempts do actually work though, and the place gets better for a while at the least.

I can also get mildly annoyed at people complaining about spelling/grammar too much though. There are probably several mistakes in this post but on the whole I take care of things like that, and as far as I'm concerned it sets me above those who don't.. I couldn't care if they want to appear uneducated tbh.

Still, you can't stop people posting whatever comes into head at any time unfortunately. I just think of all the inane drivel as something to make the more interesting things stand out more... also note that I'm one of those 'deities' you mentioned, with around 3000 posts last time I checked... I'd say maybe 500 or so were mindless spam by todays standards, and most probably fell into my first 6 months of registration. Other than that I'm just active online and like to share my opinions whenever I've got something to add.. never excessively though; my average posts/day gives a fairly accurate figure.

That's only one person's 2 cents on things tho :-p

Er... sorry. The chances of these boards regularly having intelligent debates/conversations/individual posts are pretty slim due to the types of personality we have here, and whenever something like that does happen it invariably divides the forum and degenerates into a flame war because people just get picky about spelling and grammar due to the argument getting so trivial.

If you wanted to be really picky, you could just say that this is a forum hosted by a gaming network, and as such should be strictly used for discussing games. However, that'd be boring and pointless because literally every game has it's own forum where that particular games fan's go. Some even post in here too. Something that's also got me wondering is what games do people here actually play? I've only spotted a handful of people on servers, and generally I've said hello and they've ignored me or not said anything and they've not noticed me either. I'm also getting very off topic here so this next paragraph will attempt to get back on topic.

Whatever you do to try and change this forum's content will be done in vain. People will still post the obligatory *unf* or *spooge*, or drag a thread off topic completely. Personally, I don't mind that. Irreverent fun is good every once in a while. You can all be thankful that this place isn't overrun by people with awful English (pet hate of mine) talking about something so utterly irrelevant that nobody could possibly ever give a shit.

Things I'd like to see on these forums? More posts about music, movies and general banter. Less flaming (unless blatantly deserved) would also be appreciated.

As for things I'd like to see rid of, my number one hate is spam. We need moderators who can delete the posts straight away. That's about it, actually. It's not so bad after all.

I'd also like someone to ban n3wbie. 40 posts a day is not healthy, and he's just really annoying anyway.

Anyway, that's the post from the person who despite having 700 posts nobody knows who the fuck is he and where he came from anyway ;)

James

Dyslexia as an excuse is bollocks, I know literally hundreds of dyslexics (including myself mildy) who have absolutely no problem making readable posts, spelling errors aren't an issue it's more a content/style thing. Suggesting that your posts are only unreadable due to dyslexia is just laziness, not ensuring your posts are readable not only shows that you don't care about others, but also that you don't care about your message being taken in the correct way.

To 'theriven', no, inviting me to 'fuck off and die of aids' wouldn't make things better, however, ceasing the text style useage of letters certainly would.

I'm partially dyslexic. I was fully dyslexic, until I met somebody who was more dyslexic than me and he said "You're only partially dyslexic". There's a lot of rivalry in the dyslexia camp. That's rivalry with 3 v's.
There are always going to be wankers, there's not much anybody can do about it. The regulars here, as Shocko said, have a pretty unique "style" that is either emulateable instantly, or not at all.

And the lack of spelling/grammar, err, correctness, gets on my tits sometimes. This isn't IRC, where quickfire responses are to be expected. You can take your time when replying on a forum, there's no rush to get that reply in unless you're having an *unf*/*spludge* conversation, which most of us hope would just quietly go away and die anyway.

Bizarrely, now that I'm considered a 'regular', writing a shit post like this one contributes to BarrysWorld's 'style'.

There you go.

Lol Summo & Call ;P

I personally see this forum as being somewhere "General" (what? GENERAL? Noooooo, can't have that!), for basically anything that's not specifically covered by the other forums available.

Hard to imagine that isn't it?

And Scooba (bless his cotton socks) is quite correct - just because someone has dyslexia doesn't mean that they cannot make their posts at least legible. Last I heard formatting a pile of text so it looks like less of a mess was not a problem endured by those unfortunate enough to suffer the condition (maybe I'm wrong, if so I apologise, but I don't think I am).

I know someone who's dyslexic, and despite that this person manages not only to write properly (hell better than most of you ingrates for starters), but does so with a lot of style and panache - I give you Damini.

Nuff said.

Still trolling, Exor?

They don't talk proper English like what we do!

Damini tends to ramble about "her latest trip to the shops" and other stuff, as well written as it is ... I yawn.

Well, I've stopped writing new threads because you're all a bunch of whingers, in case nobody had noticed. I keep my little dull tales to myself these days.
