T2 not responding

Ive installed Tribes2 and i have tried both running it with out patching it and also running it after using the auto patch, both times when i try to run the game i get lots of HDD activity but then i stay in my desktop but i cant click anything but my mouse will still move freely. when i ctrl+alt+del i get the blue system is busy screen then i hit and key and it goes back to windows and i get the ctrl+alt+del screen up and it tells me Tribes2 is not responding. Any advice? Im on a P3 500 mhz, 192 SD RAM, ASUS V7700 GeForce 2 GTS Delux and Windows 98 SE.

no its both solo/LAN and online thats buggering up... solo/LAN did work once but then promptly locked up shortly after it had loaded but thats the only time its worked.

Do you havbe 4* AGP enabled?
If so - disable it.

Sometimes causes machine to lock.

Video 3d mode problem

Check your screen resolution - make it the same as the 3d resolution you'll be using in T2. It sounds like a classic failure to initiate OpenGL/D3D.

Or maybe I'm a stupidhead

Uninstall the damned game from hell.



Then reinstall it, dont run it!!! Go to http://www.tribalwar.com and get the sierra patch and teh latest game patch and install them BEFORE U RUN THE GAME. See its important so I said it in caps, u need to patch it up before u run it, its soo buggy it wont even run first time without a patch

right ive patched it without running the game and it ran the first time and i got into a game for a shortwhile, but soon after it locked up again and i had to reboot. now itll run the opening intro but the screen stays black and i only hear the sound and then it does that same it locks up and does not respond.

What patch did u get? You need to use the auto installer patch and another patch before u launch game.

yes i patched the updater and the actual game... it worked but then locked up, now my screen is just black untill it finishes with the intro andf then the game crashes.

Are you using the most recent drivers (downloaded) for your video card, and have you installed DirectX 8.0a?

im using ASUS V7700 GeForce 2 GTS Delux and the drivers before the latest drivers cus they are more stable

Try using Nvidia reference drivers instead of the Asus ones (try http://www.the-ctrl-alt-del.com for a massive choice), and double check your version of DX8. It sounds like a GFX card problem to me.

Besides, people who use Asus drivers of any kind should be shot by association.

nah ASUS drivers are better then Detonator ones cus they are more compatable with me card and me computer as a whole

Dickie -that comment you made, wrong.

Teh det drivers are better for one reason, they are tried and tested for tribes 2. If you once again bothered to read anything at the links I gave you then you would now that. Dynamix tested T2 with the detonator 6.50 drivers, use em then stop moaning.

ASUS drivers make my system run alot smoother, espectially in Q3, which actually has trouble running on Det drivers, and yes i know T2 was tested on Det 6.50 and i have tried these drivers... i will try them again if it will make you feel better?

Yes it will, the det drivers are the best -i dont know anyone that uses the card specific ones.

Also I would not go shouting about using ASUS drivers. Hope you dont play CS -PB wont like you.

no i dont play CS, yes i do use ASUS drivers, no i dont use the cheat drivers, yes i agree that ASUS were wrong for releasing them, but they make good cards
