.T$M trojan?

up until last month i used niorton which expired and alot of peeps on irc recommended AVG. now norton never fully uninstalled it self even when i tried the uninstaller utill of norton site. over the pste few days norton has been popping up with a .T$M trojan and points the browser towards

Trojan Horse - Symantec.com

i have tried the the guide and did all of the steps and still the trojan is popping up. AVG mean while does not pick this trojan up

any got any ideas?
