Any recommendations? I used to have Hotbar installed but I actually clicked it away most of the time because the thing was so damn huge.

Something the size of the regular Win taskbar maybe - cpu temperature etc.

Motherboard monitor will put cpu and chassis temperatures in your system tray as standard no need for a whole extra bar if that's all you're really interested in. :) You can also use applications such as samurize to output all manner of useful stuff directly on your desktop.

Forgive me for overtly plugging TechNation's Drivers and Utilities feature, but if you check the 'System Customisation' list under 'Utilities' it provides a few programs which should cater for your needs. All of these programs are free and have been recommended by the community :)
