So I have a chromecast, which I thought was great at first but turns out to be a bag of wank, half the stuff I download refuses to work, the other half tends to stutter.

All I want is a little box I can stick under the TV to stream TV shows and movies from the PC, I have an old laptop that could do the job but I really just want a little box that I can control with a remote that removes all the fucking about.

I don't want to spend massive amounts, around £50 if possible, I could live with using an old laptop + wireless keyboard/remove gadget for any more.

There are tones on amazon but having been burnt so hard with the chromecast I am a little hesitant to buy one, storage isn't really an issue as I would connect it to the network and either stream stuff from the PC or from the network drive.

Is your TV a Smart one? If yes, just Plex.

looks interesting - can it stream blue rays?
It's basically a PC so yes because you chuck whatever codecs or software you want on it via flash drive/SD card/download etc. It has handled everything I have thrown at it so far, network would be the only bottleneck I guess and don't forget it has a full, completely legit and licensed Windows 10 on it.

Shouldn't be, the TV is about 3 metres from the router. I did read they sometimes have trouble with BT boxes but it worked without issue for ages then stopped with the last plex update.

A PC of some sort under the TV would be better anyway I think.
