ok yes the pic's are funny but in the sence that any adult in fancy dress is usually funny (unless its a morris dancer then its just plain creepy).

Have to say though one of the reasons im a net junkie is that people cant judge me by my appearance and i find i get along much better with people if they cant see me (go figure).

Out in the land of the interweb we are all equal sometimes made to look like a bit of a n00b by sucky spelling but no one gets persecuted for it, so yep for those of us who's vital measurements are only 60, 30, 60 because we've got a gigantic and grossly deformed head, tape worms and severe inflamation of the ankles the anonymity of the pc offers us the chance to let the beauty of our personalitys shine through.

In all fairness sitting in a chair in front of a PC for hours (prolly with something nice to drink and eat!) generally isn't condusive to keeping a svelte figure!

P.S. My missus is a size 18 and I, at least, consider her to be the sexiest woman on the planet and frankly I'm glad she's not beating off the fellas whith a shitty stick since she'd realise fairly quickly she could do alot better than me!

In america they go to some park, build keeps, and hunt in the forests, for enemys, in the open fields etc. And they use home - made trebs to take down the keeps etc.

Haha, really? I once designed a funky system with water-dissolvable 'keep' walls, so you could shoot waterballoons at your enemy and break down the keep at the same time while I was bored in the car on the way back from vacation to France. Nice to see someone else had a similar idea though. I was kinda worried about the physical safety of the players, standing around on ramparts that were getting holed.

Well in the UK we use "larp-Safe arrows" Which are effectively, an arrow with the metal head cut off, then a foam socket like thing attached to the end, bigger than your eye socket, so that it can't poke your eyes out. Weapons are made with a solid core, then padded with foam ontop of which is placed a few layers of latex and paint..

All in all its really good fun, esp. at the big events, get drunk with your mates, then hit each other with weapons while looking silly .

So, what exactly is live role-playing?
Essentially it is a kind of free-form amateur dramatic hobby... without scripts or audience. First of all, you take on a character... then it is up to you to react as your character, to the events that take place around you. All of your decisions and actions will determine the course of your character's life (or death).

Live role-playing (or LRP) takes many forms, from traditional battle re-enactment to sword-and-sorcery and futuristic science fiction. Fools & Heroes is set in a medieval fantasy version of our own world (England is re-named "Ithron"), where knights and warriors clash with hideous creatures, priests do the bidding of their gods and mages wield powerful magics (when they are not running away). In this kind of world, the actions of individual adventurers do make a difference.

Maybe Tir Na Nog could sponsor me for making commercial for hibbyland? 10 plats a week, and i would wear pointy plastic ears and a robe and yell that "Im an elf from the fair realm of Hibernia! I have high intelligence! But rather low constitution, so dont hit me!" (since some people most likely might wanna do that)

On a sidenote though, ive seen MUCH worse from various roleplaying lives. Vampire lives being the worst i think. I googled for it once, and found some really wicked stuff. Found more or less only german sites though, and we all know germans are a little crazy :eek2:

Some Swedish tolkien inspired LARPers. From what i have seen the Swedish LARP community is alot more developed when it comes to actual roleplaying and not just fighting with foam weapons.

Closest thing I've ever come to LRPG was I once went to one of those Lasertag things. Some little 13 year old kid shot me with that crappy gun thingy and laughed at me and all I wanted to do was take it off him and beat him to death with the damn thing. I walked straight out through the door I'd walked just walked in through and handed the gear back to the guy and told him "this isn't really for me" and he gave me the weirdest look...

Does this seem weird to anyone else that I can't separate the fantasy recreation of a violent game with the desire to commit same?
