If you're just meleeing the ranger then you're doing something wrong, if he just charges well, whats your point? You can still shoot him only you wouldn't have lost end through engage. From all that you have said it is easy to realise that you are a shitty scout, and as the old saying goes, 'a poor craftsman blames his tools.'

The thing is, if he keeps shooting, it's kind of hard to draw the bow. I have always had an easy time vs rangers, just engage, run up and slam them. Load crit and finish off melee (which is doable vs rangers).

Engage the ranger until you are out of his range. Then shoot back.
