....said Gumbo, in the Ebay thread, and who am I to resist a thread about chariots?

So, after I've sold the Chim (which will probably take ages, but anyway) I quite fancy something like this:

xjr.jpg

I want to drive a Jaguar before I die, and my model of choice right now is the XJ. You can get them for silly money on Autotrader, I reckon I could get a 10-year old one for about £6000 in top condition. If I pay a bit more, I could get an XJR which is very quick indeedy, and actually doesn't really use a great deal more fuel than its lesser siblings.

My other options are a BMW 728/735 of similar vintage, or I might even just buy something cheaper for a while, perhaps an old Volvo V70 (I've had one in the past) which are pretty damn good cars.

I'm alot younger than Tom so I won't be having a Jag just yet.

My next car, in the near future will be an Audi RS4.

Funny, I thought driving a Jag was a sign you were already dead :). Seriously, until they stop designing them like sixties throwbacks, no thanks.

BMW M3 for me next if I can get a decent price for the Z.

And already it's the most popular thread of the day.

Doing the big insurance ring round today, and just got a quote from autotorque for half what I paid last year :D

Selling your Chim already Tom.

Aye, I've had my fun :) Its bloody brilliant, but I'm just going up and down the motorway too much right now. I need a cruiser, plus the lack of rear seats has been causing problems with some work jobs.

I'll definitely be having another one though, in a few years perhaps.

My new baby. :)

Ok, I've only got a shitty 10 year old 205 diesel, I can't afford a new car.

Thats because you spend it on £2k bikes like me. :(

That looks nice, cant say I've heard of Transition bikes but it looks nice and bouncy. Cant wait to get back on mine properly, been riding on roads (bleh) to get back into it but I know its going to be a long time before I go Woburn Sands again :(

People carrier for me next... my life is over ;P

My only remaining joy lies in persuading other people of the joys of parenting so I can watch them suffer too... But obviously its great being a parent :)

2K bikes eh? Try Tescos for £63. :)

As for cars, I wouldn't mind an RX7 one day.

Signed,

Clarkson didn't like it too much, the Con version any way.

Based on current salary trend either (brand new):

Impreza STi (or ultimately a second hand WR1)
Lancer Evo 9
BMW 330ci
Audi A3 3.2 Quattro sport

However, i may keep the Clio 182 for a "sensible to and from the shops" kind of car and get some sort of two seater roadster, maybe a second hand Boxster S or a Honda S2000?

I will change my mind a million times in the meantime.

I think the cabriolet is really ugly - and yeah it's supposed to be pretty bland. However, I'm pretty sure the standard is supposed to be good. www.parkers.co.uk seem to think so anyway.

The Z is definitely the bastard child of the 911 Carrera and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

I think what they concluded was that if you want an open top 2 seat coupe then buy one that was designed that way, a Honda S2000, BMW Z4 etc rather than a one that was designed as a hardtop and then had it cut off. They didn't really like the Z350 or the Audi TT soft top or the Crossfire.

If I remember they did quite like the Z350 hardtop.

I doubt it, Audis have computers controlling every aspect of your driving, you'll have died of boredom long before you die of extreme deceleration. You have to turn the bastards off every time you fire the engine up and even then not all of them turn off.

I'm loving my TT - it's a joy

I don't know if I can start thinking about my next car yet - feels like I'm cheating on the TT when I look at other cars ;)

Clarkson's a dick. 'Tis a fabulous car

So great you seem to want to sell yours :p

TT is just too common now.

Out of those cars Big G it would have to be either the BMW, for the more relaxed drive, or the Impreza STi for being a little bit nutty but more refined than the Evo.

Only want to sell it coz I really need four seats, otherwise I wouldn't even think about it.
