Episode 1 was shit.

Episode 2 is called "Attack of the Clones" for christs sake.
I hope to god its better than Ep 1 (It wont be with a name like that).

Lucas is surrounded by a bunch of yes men that daren't oppose any of his badly conceived ideas. Before Episode 1, he hadn't directed a film for 20 odd years. We can now see why.

The magic has gone, the story telling has been thrown out of the window and Lucas seems hell bent on trying to beat Bill Gates for worlds richest bloke honours.

TBH there wasn't a lot he could do with the film as he had to stick to the story already set in the middle three films.

I concur. Episode 1 was the biggest waste of £4:50 in my life. Such a shit film :(

Bodhi stop it now, its getting silly. We never agree on anything as a rule, but thats 4 things we've agreed on this year alone.

It isn't normal.


As for Ep 1: The best thing was the lightsaber duel and that was only ok ish. Raw; if Episode 1 rocks why is it I, and thousands of others, can't bear to watch it again whilst I can happily sit through the other 3 films time after time? Episode 1 was a victim of its own hype, people were expecting the greatest film ever made, but it wasn't even the most mediocre film ever made.

ffs, how the hell can you enjoy a film that has that fucked up CGI Jar Jar Binks in it?? The Gungan race was created purely to sell as toys to the kids and they served no purpose in the film other than eye candy. The one bit that could've redeemed them, the battle against the Trade Federation robots, was ruined by Lucas's crap attempt at comedy, with Jar Jar reducing the gallant Gungan defense into Teletubbies in Space.

What utter arse.

I thought that Ep1 was pretty good actually, and Im personally not that keen on Star Wars at all (More of a Trek fan).

However now that I think about it there have been many more entertaining films released lately (Evolution being one of them!).

Anyway... for those that are having trouble downloading the trailer there's a 7Mb mpg on my site's FTP server (ftp://www.pyroport.com)...

The thing about ep1 is it wasnt really starwars, nothing in the film is romotely familiar to the other films except the sabre battles but they lacked the usual "I will destroy u!" and all that jazz.

I heard jar jar is in the second one too...oh dear...

one of the movies had to set the scene, as A new hope set the seen for ESB and ROTJ, TPM set the seen for the next 2 films

If they were all fukll of action with no story, you'd all complain that "lucas was all into special effects and used a shit storyline"

If you've read the spoiler for ep2, according to the author it will be the 2nd best star wars film, (after ESB)

I didnt like Episode 1 as I hated listening to that americans brats smart alec comments :rolleyes:

Like the guy above said.. i didnt expect EP1 to be anything like the other starwars films as its setting the scene leading up to them.

I'd expect more from this coming move though going off what ive read.

Episode 1 is shit because its the first one, personally im not so keen on the whole SW stuff tbh, never watched it as a child so missed out on the whole brainwashing stuff.

Why did he release the middle 3 first? Because they had action, they were exciting, they would pull in the crowds. If he had released ep1 first people would have been bored and the rest would probably have never seen the light of day.

I'm a great fan of reading books and when it comes to a big series i usually don't expect much from the first book, it might be good, but all they do usually is set the scene and background for the rest of the series, bear with it, ep2 may be vaguely interesting :p

As a whole - Episode one is an enjoyable film. It's by no means BAD, it just cannot live up the the other films. Jar Jar Binks was a fucking annoying cunt though, and did knock down the enjoyment factor a lot.
