TBH you are better off getting a network media server these days, but they generally cost about £100 with support for x264. A PS3 will do the job, but is a bit pricey unless you also plan on using it as a console/blu-ray player.
Dunno why I put x264 in there, dont need it considering it's for a an old CRT telly in the bedroom. Just need a cheap player with good support and cheap pricetag.
I like the look of that Toshiba. My Pioneer DVD player can't play anything other than regular DVD's. I'm quite tempted myself but I don't really need one...
