You do know that five a day was totally invented by the US government to rescue ailing fruit and vegetable farmers.
It's not based on science, just good marketing...that's why everyone thinks fruit is 'healthy'....it's marketing.
In reality it's full of sugars and acid that rots your teeth.

Went to a McD for the first time in years last week. Got the biggest burger with fries and a large beverage. Here is how it went:

Her "What would you like to drink?"
Me "Fanta, please."
Her again " Fanta Zero?"
Me "No thanks, just regular"
Her "we don't have that. Only regular soda we have is coke."

I was so baffled that I ended up with a club soda. When did McD stop serving proper soda drinks?

Its like a heroin dealer giving you a plaster with your fix to get an easier sentence.

It's shit, so we only have the choice of chemicals in our stuff now instead of natural sweetener because its righteous. But it isn't, it's bad. Mmmmm'kay.

This is just customer demand. There are a fixed numbers of nozzles on the McD drinks fountain and consumer demand drives the mix of drinks sold. Most people drink the zero or diet versions of drinks these days (even Coke), so those brands get on the list. Its not a conspiracy to deny sugar to the addicted masses, its economics.

theres a new law here in Finland that fruit drinks of any kind cannot be called juice if they contain added sugar

I think its a new EU thingy

has lead to quite a bit of confusion

I do remember reading somewhere that Full Sugar drinks are responsible for childhood diabetes. It is not the parents letting little Bill and Ben drink 2 liters of the shit a day it is the drinks fault. So they get hidden away. But then I remembered reading about a massive study in America in to the damage the Sweeteners can do and because they are in almost everything that is healthy (sugar free) kids are consuming far too much so there were calls to ban diet soft drinks with the Sweeteners. It is meant to be the reason why Coke introduced the Life shit which is no added Sugar but with a different natural Sweetener.

It all comes down to moderation though. If you let your kid drink nothing but Full Sugar Dr Pepper chances are he eats what he wants and will be over weight and have a higher chance of diabetes. If you make him drink water but let him have 1 glass of Dr Pepper a day chances are he will be fine.

Is true...you cannot tell me that fruit and vegetable farmers haven't got their hand in government health advice...the five a day is an utterly massive free advertising deal for them...in fact the government pretty well advise you that you will die early if you don't start buying more of their products.

Asperteme or however it's spelt is poisonous in sufficient quantity as with all chemicals, I think the limit is something like 15 litres a day, of course that's playing safe.and you could drink 10X that without serious effect, apart from dying from over drinking water.

Oh don't get me started on farmers, I won't argue with you over them being cunts. My wife likes Countryfile, I refuse to watch it because every week it's mainly about how poor all the farmers are as they whizz around in their gold plated Range Rovers. When it comes to farmers I am basically Alan Partridge

Everything, EVERYTHING that is sold as good or healthy or right has another motive behind it that will benefit someone higher.

Read about flouride while we're being paranoid as well. You know you shouldn't swallow it right?*

Flouride does help prevent tooth decay and the tiny possible health risk is nothing compared the complications of rotting teeth.
I saw how they put it in the water..it's hilarious, a guy shovels it into a hopper and a vibrating plate pours it slowly into a passing open duct....was expecting something more high tech.

This is why Five Guys bringing over the US style machines where you can get all the variants is awesome.

I'm in the UK all the time, I was only in London yesterday, but I rarely have time for burgers, and there's lots of other food outlets in London that we don't have in Dublin that take my fancy; Kimchee yesterday.

Meh, I'm with Gaff. Whilst I love a good burger they're very hard to come by. My missus makes amazing gourmet burgers tho so I'd rather barbecue hers and when we eat out go somewhere more interesting instead.

Aspartame is completely safe.

C'mon Tom. Bit of a sweeping statement and likely to be untrue.

I won't drag up the scare mongering internet nonsense but I will tell you about how I was subject to MRIs, EEGs and numerous neurological exams before my 'symptoms' were narrowed down to ingesting Aspartame. This was 15 years ago and I refuse to go near the stuff now. 'Classified' as safe is not the same as safe. I'm not saying my reaction is the norm or any indication that it isn't safe but man made, calorie free sweetener is suspicious at best.

Five MRI's and then you went to a chiropractor.

Also did you know aspartame has the same calories a sugar, it's just 1000s X sweeter, so you need hardly any of it.

Also sugar isn't natural, we modified the crop of thousands of years.

Was this an observational study or a double blind test. If the former the science is shit. Only double blind tests can be true you have to look at that. Just because its published it cant be considered as science blindly. Who sponsored the test? What out come were they looking for?
Why don't you fucking read it?

Eat/drink/do whatever you like (in moderation) and stop being a slave to the marketing departments and their pseudo science.

If you need to constantly check whether whatever it is you are doing is "OK" then you need a hobby.

If you don't do this, you'll probably die. Not that it affects me in any way.
