pop it in the tumble drier with a sheet of bounce imo...

it might not work at all when it comes out but it'll be all warm and soft and smell looovely so you can tell people its a novelty amusing cushion from the nerd section of IKIA

make sure there is no power at all (take the battery out aswell). allow it to try over night. if it was on when you spilt the coke in, it maybe shagged.

happened to one of my keyboards once.

Hope you were smart enough to clean it out with a bit tamped paper tolwer or something before you hairdried it.

As long as you didn't shortcircuit anything, it should still be working.

With it being coke I would probably says its screwed yes. if its dried on the board at all as soon as you turn it on itll probably short out (if it hasnt already)

Depends how much you spilt and where it went really, if its just gone on the keyboard thats a doddle to replace at least.

I say we take some bets on this.

Then you plug it in and let it rip - whilst having another PC with webcam watching it so we can all see the mushroom cloud explosion.

You couldn't just take the whole keyboard off? Usually laptops have removeable keyboards so if your laptop wasn't running while you spilt the coke you are ok (just buy new keyboard) - if it was running there might be a problem (although you would have seen it going "kaboom" :p).

Just don't do like I did with my phone, when I spilled beer all over it, and pour water over it.. That killed it totally :(

The water should have washed away the beer....but did you remember to stick your mobile in the oven afterward to evaporate the water....then stick it in the freezer to stop it melting.

then throw it in the bin because it would be proper fucked.

Take it apart and clean all the places where the coke went with electricians cleaning spray, use as much as possible it just evaporates anyway and won't damage anything.

If it won't boot you'll need to pull apart all the connectors and spray inside them.

Was power on Laptop when you spilt the coke on it?

If so you may shorted something. If you turned it off quick and removed the battery you may be lucky. May still be worth cleaning everything out, entire keyboard and mobo. If there are any coke stains use distilled water or if you have none try gin on a cotton bud (q-tips) to clean up any affected areas. Then leave in a warm place to dry out for at least 24 hours.

Reassemble and try it out. Good luck.

Tried to turn it on today everything started up (harddrive etc..) then it just shuts down again, i have a feeling that this may be due to the keyboard being knackered and several keys "pressing" themselves due to coke being spilt on them. (i.e the F keys preventing start up) if this is the case do you think it's worth taking it to a shop and asking them to disconnect the keyboard and try to start it up with an external one?

Sure. Cheaper to take it to a shop for some tests then buying a whole fresh one again :)

Happened to my laptop, ended up having to replace everything except the CDrom drive(which didn't work, but they didn't test it).
