I'm using a Blackberry 8520 Curve (Best phone ever btw)

Hooked it all up to my emails etc, but fuck me it gets right on my tits when im waiting for a text, it goes off and its a pissing email from moonpig or some shitty car insurance place. Just general SHITE!


Any ideas to stop this piece of shit? Then again i do require some emails on my phone!

I've got the same phone, you can set it up to only go off on calls or texts - I have mine to be silent on emails.

Will look into how you do it and post how - might take a while and much cursing though because I'm hungover

Messages [your email here] -> [set "None" in 'out of holster' and 'in holster']

I just set mine up for my own email server, so I have full control over spam filters ect.

I daresay there are a couple of spam control apps in the app store too. I haven't used it but someone told me recently that SmrtGuard Pro is very good on Blackberry.

Swishy phone?!?!?

I was given one of these for work and I absolutely hate it with a passion!

• Call quality is crap
• it can't hold a signal
• it drops calls frequently
• it's only GPRS which means it takes its sweet time downloading anything
• clearing notifications is clunky
• browser doesn't render many sites properly
• no Flash on websites
• choosing contacts is long winded
• I hate the UI
  and the main reason...
• THE BUTTONS ARE TOO BLOODY SMALL!

Because of all that, I only turn it on to make work calls then turn it off straight away. To hell with email, SMS or browsing. I've set call forwarding when it's off to my personal phone. My personal phone has been a touchscreen model since 2003 and is currently a HTC Desire. Now THAT'S a swishy phone.

Within 3 clicks i can have any contact up. Signal holds absolutly fine. If not better than the person receiving it!! UI is more than customizable.

To clear notifications all you have to do is delete prior!

I have a curve, and It's alright, I find the apps are a bit gash as it's all bloody american shite

But then I don't really use apps for anything so I can't comment properly!!!

The messenger is nice though.

Blackberry's are alright and they have pretty much cornered the corporate market, but tbh I have to agree there are far better phones on the market for the money. As for Apps, RIM is the worst developer on the market, they are slow with fixes and OS updates and the dev tools for blackberry are pretty dire too.

If you wanted this then i suppose get an iphone or something along those lines.


It's simply the Qwerty keyboard, BB Messenger, Facebook App (the only one i use ;p ) Emails and easily accessible browser.


I tend to see more people joining the 'blackberry hype' than the iphone. I also see more people leaving iphone and coming to blackberry. Those arn't satistics btw just peoples statuses !

You may want to try the BOLT browser, it is far better than the standard blackberry one and has html5 video support.
