Sound Conflict

Guys,

Im sure I saw a thread in this forum about the conflict with onboard sound card and a soundblaster, whereby theposter was not getting any sound at all (in Windows XP).

For the life of me, I cant find it.

any one help an old codger out?

Dunno about the original, but have you disabled the onboard sound in the bios and diabled/removed it from your hardware configuration in the device manager?

not yet- its a "friends" pc - going to go round and have a look. Wanted a few ideas from you geeks.......erm experts before I go :)

Normally just disabling the onboard sound in the bios is enough, can depend though.

Indeed, though bear in mind most PCs can handle more than one soundcard, so if you're getting full on resource conflicts make sure you both disable the onboard sound, and if that still doesn't work then move it to another free PCI slot on the motherboard.
