So been fiddling around with it some.

I have(GoV,Demon Blood Ring, Scalars)

I kinda excluded Jacinas and Erinys mostly because they are insanely difficult for me to get, so tried to make a realistic temp. Still with 2 morphs and good range and speed. I lack 2 points in capping dex, but its not overly important those 2 is it?

Its a mind sorc 44mind, primary for Group play(mezzer,debuffer,demezzer ect.) so bear that in mind when you read it. :)

I know, prob is I then lack dex/acuity caps. and +range. :( I cant seem to fit it in anywhere else without gimping something else. Tart was my first choice until I fould out how hard Jacinas, Immolated ring and Soot stained boots is to get. :(

I used SoG up to rr9 because for a primary mezzer range > damage. Did mean I had to use RP alot though. The other thing I find on my Sorc is that getting hits cap is very useful. My (Avo!) Sorc has 1620 hits buffed and quite often I survive 3 nukes because of that.

It's partly a matter of taste, as someone who made a Sorc before the level 50 lifetap existed I've also seen CC as my main purpose and so valued range over damage.

You might consider that 5% range is enough if you run with another person with CS or Zahur's though as that will give you 5% you lack passively.

An item is good if it has something you cannot get elsewhere. In this case, Tart’s gift is unique for it’s power charge. It doesn’t matter how much range % it has/does not have on it.

SoG also has things you can't get elsewhere, or perhaps can't get as easily. I used to find the charge from SoG very handy as well. And finding an item to replace both the +range and +dex cap is difficult.

For some people having a template they can use in the next couple of weeks is more important than having a perfect template 6 months down the line.

And actually I didn't say use SoG it has 5% range on it, I said I used it very successfully for a very long time. Merely pointing out that alternatives are possible and useable.

bored at work, so browsed my way here...

imo, tartaros is more important because it has 5% damage bonus. mcl charge is very good too, but still, there are so many ways to increase power, but not so many to increase damage.

eriny, sash, stone of atlantis and bracer of zo'arkat has range bonuses.

You're missing the point. You don't need to find "an item" that replaces range and dex cap. The sum of the other items in your template will cap this, quite easily. Hundreds of dex cap items exist.

Damage on tarts is harder, in fact, to find elsewhere than range.

What would I know though.

Soot stained boots and immo ring aint hard to get, depends on how long you wanna farm..

And you are missing my point which was that a template with SoG in it is perfectly viable, if not perfect.

Yes damage is harder (if not impossible) to replace, which is why a template using SoG is a compromise, not once have a said it would make a perfect template I was posting to help the original poster, as he appears to be someone who wants a viable template today rather than a perfect one in 6 months time.

Well I can put Tart,Erinys,Jacinas, Soot stained boots and stuff in the template. But it will merely make not complete the template for the next year.

Thats why I tried to get some alternatives(and easier to get items). capping damage not so important at this stage for a groupmezz sorc.

Cap cast speed
Cap Range
cap resists
Cap con/hits
Have a few morphs

Thats what I mainly aimed for, without the never get items, and its not that easy. ;) So if any of you know items that give those things, that I havent used or spoken about and is easy to get, let me know :)

Well as a casual player I dont have forever playtime. ;)
I farmed ML 1.1 maybe 20-30 times, never got it yet.

Sootstained boots. Drops from SoM afaik. not that easy farmable. and none on sale on CM's Immo is 50p or something, kinda not viable for me either.

I found Barnacle Boots to maybe be a cheap replacement for Sootstained. but would love to hear about other "cheap" items. :)

just trying to give some ideas.
i consider those templates as perfect as can be with current items in hib, so they might include some hc itamz. but as i said, just trying to give some ideas.

No, I understand the point, but sotg would simply be a bad choice.

I just don't understand the point of making a half-decent template when with a few days farming and a bit of thought it could be exceptional. Guess I like being on top of the game.

You have access to a wider range of characters than most for farming though :p

The difference is bigger between random outfit and 75% perfect template than it is between 75% perfect template and 100% perfect template, which is why I am generally in favour of those with limited time/resources going for a 75% perfect option.

Don't get me wrong I notice the difference now that I (after a year of trying) have Erinys and what I consider to be my perfect template, but it's nothing compared to the difference between having nothing and having the stop gap template I used for a year.

Let me let you in on a little secret here. If you want to succeed in TOA PVE do the following:

Don’t listen to other people telling you things are ‘impossible’ to get.

Nothing is impossible to get, it just requires initiative.

Everyone goes around saying how hard Eriny’s is, or how they’ll “never get Zo bracer”. I can’t stress this enough; daoc is about efficiency and planning.

Why would it take “a year” to complete? Fuck that – log on tonight, PM in-game friends, ask your guild for help, get a group together and DO artifact encounters you need.

You’d be surprised how many people are willing to help, even people you’ve never talked to before.

It works…and if you can trust anyone on PVE information, it’s me.

1.1 is just luck, u can have 2 in 5x or none in 50
som only prob is too find it up, then ml9 and bb and its cake
and take a look at eso's temp's, u might learn smth :)

I've got a feeling the dex cap version of Battler sleeves don't drop in Albion. Rather we get a version with Int cap.

The point is, it may be "a little thought" and "a few days farming" to you, with a wide range of characters, deep knowledge in the game, and a whole guild behind you willing to help, but this is hardly the situation for the average Joe. Sure, you go ahead and say the following:

After all, many people play this game to RvR, and thus the template you wear and the equipment you have are just a means to an end. You will be able to do very well in RvR even with a non-opted suit, as long as you try and optimize the aspects of it that are important to your class archetype. (Heck, Zoyster made it to RR9/RR10 with an AF36 cloth piece!)

Let's be realistic: ToA is the largest PvE timesink in this game. Thus, stating that making a "perfect template" is easy (well, at least "not hard") frankly reeks of PvE-leetism. ;)

For myself, I take pride in being able to make good templates depending on the circumstances: a non-artifact suit for my seldomly-played Cleric, a good suit for my Druid rolled on a new server with little existing resources, and a perfect suit for my Healer on a server where I am well-established. Despite this, I still consider myself to be "on top of the game" (whatever that means). ;)

I'm not saying it's easy for everyone to TOA their chars; I'm simply saying, in my experience, there is a severe lack of initiative and gumption to action do anything about it.

Well here I try again, my melee resists is lagging a bit, but with a BG'er in group thats not the highest problem, is it? :) Dont know how hard the new sleeves are to get/buy

Agreed. But that's part of being a casual player; perhaps you don't have the time to do the proper research and take the initiative, perhaps you don't have the time or connections to gather the necessary people to achieve it, or perhaps you don't even care and just want something to start with for you RvR and then upgrade your template as you go along. Some people don't even want to go to such great lengths to equip their characters--they might see DAoC as a time to relax, not to fret about getting the best template ever on their characters! :)

I have a nasty feeling these are actually leather, believe it or not.

Might be wrong, but I seem to remember the suede drops were Friar items.

At a quick glance, try putting in Ceremonial Dex and using crafted sleeves for the resists you lose from Ebon Hide.

Absolutely, I agree. People gain enjoyment in DAOC from a lot of different means. It just makes me :( to hear so many people dismiss items/artifacts they clearly want, simply because common knowledge says it's impossible to get.

I really must finish my PVE guide :s
