I saw this from the intrevew that mythic guy gave...

So what about Buffbots ?

It wouldn't be a day if I get out of here without having to answer a question about buffbots. To understand about buffbots you have to understand of course as I said two questions ago : Mythic isn't perfect. Of course we introduced this system where players acquire buffbots and get advantages over players who don't have buffbots. By the time we really realized how many people were doing this it of course was very widespread.
Now we are in a situation where some people love buffbots and most of you hate them. What we try to do is to make lots of little changes over time to make buffbots less attractive to people. If we just one day strike them down then the people that have loved to play buffbots of course won't play anymore and we don't want to make that huge change. We want to make them not appreciate the buffbots so much but still continue to play.
One example that we do to make buffbots less attractive : in Catacombs for example - we haven't released information about the classes yet - but I can tell you that the classes will be much less reliant on buffbots and on buffs in general. They will be a little more self-reliant, so with the new classes it won't be quite so necessary to have a buffbot so players of those classes can compete ; one example.
Read the patchnotes in the future as we do a lot of little things as we try to alleviate the problem.

Is Mythic Ent. going to look at the classic zones and especially at the capitals ? Are your designers planning to improve those areas and make them more attractive for players ?

In Catacombs - and we haven't talked about this anywhere so you are hearing this for the first time - a lot of the concept that you get will just start from the capital city. So we want to actually re-interest people in going to the capital cities and going crafting there and making it more the home of the realm like they were intended to be when we developed it.
Every time we try and find more and more things for the capital city to do. In terms of art it is very hard for us to upgrade the capital cities because they are in artistic terms one big model. You can't change a couple of things without changing the whole model. We are trying not to change the art just make more things happen in the city so what people are doing feels more alive.

Seems like many ppl will reroll again . Same reroll tactic same shit .
Do u want buffbots to get nerfed ? Do u think this will be the begining of their end ?
discuss : )

who loves to play buffbot anyway ^^

The answer is really crap.. "we'll nerf it over a long period of time to soften the blow for people who love buffbots"... Imo people HAVE to use buffbots to be able to play their main char properly nowadays.. not because the LOVE to have one. It's all about $

bet they give mids a new "self buff" class that have to spec in a line to get a dex/quick, useless AF buff and if lucky a blue con pet that runs slower then a snared scattle bug and hits like wet glove , very attractive indeed and do very good without a buffbot, /sarcasm off

Only way to make the new classes independent is have selfbuffs that are baseline or in a very attractive spec line (friars) or selfbuffs that are more effective but same as primary buffers or make strong but unbuffable chars...

Cant see how they will prevent people to roll other type of buffbots unless they cover all existing enhancements in one char.

Despite having played mostly two years with no buffbot, I am loath to imagine playing a Scout with unbuffed qui, even against unbuffed enemies.

Worst answer possible. They've done absolutely nothing in all this time to counter the use of BuffBots. The easiest solution would have been to either make Buffs timer based like the new AOE ones, or have them area based like Paladin chants/speed pulses or something. That way, groups with enhance clerics would get the benefit from buffs still, but stealthers, etc, wouldn't - unless they spent all their time around their TK ;). This would also mean people might actually play an enhance cleric/shamy/druid, like this fool from Mythic seems to think they do now.

Bottom line is, it will never be in their interest to effectively halve the amount of subs they get - so buffbots are, and always will be, a part of the game.

I'm able to play all my chars fine without bb. Does that mean I'm a more competent player? ;)

i'm they should keep bases the way they are now, and give the specs a time..

Just like the way a friar has it now =)

well being able to cast the specs on other players would help too

I play an armsman....i need all the help i can get (o:

But, at the mo i have a lvl 26 BB, and she has been that level for quite a while now. Until i get my necro to 50 she will prolly be at that level too. Her buffs help me loads in PvE. Would never dream of taking her to Emain, Odins or HW just to buff me. Even if she was lvl 50 an armsman is crap solo (then again....who isnt !!!)

I got a buffbot becouse everyone else got it and after 1 year of beating i gave up.
These new classes maybe have a spec buff line themself, but you can probably use a buffbot and use the extra spec points to get extreamly overpowerd :D

I used to be quite happy playing without buffs for most of the time, and took great pride in the times I beat people that did have buffs.

But then a friend quit and gave me his account so I tried buffs, and its a whole new world, your on even ground again and no more excuses etc. Now its impossible to play without, I can only remember killing 1 person in the past 6 months or more who did not have buffs, and to be honest he did actually drop 1 buff even, so go figure. If you solo and want to stand a chance you need some sort of buff access.

As to the point of the thread, i'd be much happier if there were no buffs, i'd happily give up my own bot if I could be garunteed the enemy were unbuffed too but thats not going to happen.

Getting rid of buffs is not the answer though, it would harm the buffing classes to much its not fair on clerics etc but there are ways around it, such as making them only work on grouped members (sure the enemy could stay grouped with the bot, but if they do there going to be getting half rps so its its own penalty).

Basically its to late to solve the BB problem, its a core design fault and they'd have to redesign all buff classes and the buff system entirely to truely solve it.

Nah, if you dd that with a friar youd fuck yourself over cos you wouldnt have the haste, end buff jobbie, grp resists etc...I imagine theyl do something like that for these new self buff classes.

i play nurture druid and i do well as a buffbot too (mostly pointed towards the one talking about putting some interst into playing buff specced buff class:p) its good to have a nurt druid in grp coz if someone dies he can be buffed just as powerful as if he were buffed by a bb. But then again, bb's make my job alot easier :p BB's are a part of the game and tbh, it should be possible to buy a special daocpacket as a bb packet, where you'd get a certain buff class at a certain lvl with 50 buffspec non-changeable, with 25% buffbonus etc :p! yes, that would solve everybodies bb problem \o/

I don't agree Kagato, why not handle buffs the same way paladin chants work (group members only and 1500 range), that would give me a chance to actually play my 50 enh cleric in RvR. People would only benefit from my toon if they grouped with it, quid pro quo as the saying goes.

The fact that mythic have put in sleep mode so you can more effectively run two accounts sums up their attitude towards buffbots for me. What other possible reason u gonna want to dual log apart from running a buffbot. Buffbots are here to stay

Only problem with that being the buffs would stop working the moment you get mezzed :p and chant range is to short in my opinion as it is already, they'd also need to alter all buffs to be group based rather then single cast, in short, they'll never do it, to much work for them and they'd rather be working on new expansions to get our money with.

I find my char much more fun with buffs, in both PvE and RvR - casting faster, hitting harder, it's just feels more fun with buffs than without.

if they wanted to eliminate buffbots all they would have to do is make the buffs ranged (e.g from tk to short of a milegate) this would mean everyone would be on a equal playing field when they fight. it also would mean people would be less happy going to tk's because the oponents will have full buffs at that point. But it will never happen after all its all about the money

and the self buffing class, i wouldnt put it past them just to get people to buy catacombs. Then give it a heavy handed nerf when the general populous has switched to it (animists, savages for example)

guess the new class will not be buff able by clerics as they have turned from the church so guess they are thinking that we'll stop this new class getting buffs but give them uber self buffs make them them necro of rvr so its going to be a healing buffing tank that use flex weapons, mmmmm reaver?(well thats the alb version ne way not hread much about mid or hibs class's

Designing a class to use self specs means either it has to be on the same ground as buffed players when self-buffed (as it won't get any benefit from a bot) and will be overpowered against unbuffed players, or it will be on even ground with unbuffed players when self-buffed, but not able to get buffed by a bot to compete with buffed players. Maybe they've got something up their sleeve but I fail to see how this is a solution. Friars currently occupy a sort of middle ground, which also isn't a great situation.

What reason What reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well ask those damn dual accounter hibs who ruin the game making it impossible to get a group @ 40+ if you dont have a 2nd account or be online for 2 days in a row.
Fins at hib are all dual accounters or people leveling an animist.
Normaly that wouldnt be a problem only fins you say.
Well the problem is that the population 40+ is very low and everyone is in cursed forest or crafting.
Thank god for you albs and mids that you are very slow in developing new leveling methods (hibs invented pbaoe leveling, then they invented focuspull leveling, and now animists + fop fins leveling) if you dont have a level 50 animist or a level 50 fop druid on another account as the toon you are leveling forget getting groups.

this would mean buff access would be limited to grouped non-stealhters. Not good.
