mark sounds like the kinda guy that came last in all the rounds of counter-strike and wants to get us all back for it.

Flim you just have so much patience that I couldnt imagine.

BUt yeah, I think that it sucks that daoc was made for RvR and now they are concentrating on PvE... I dont know what it was but Pre NF was just so much more fun than what it is now, Maybe I'm just wierd

dont need superior intellect nor need to be a fortune teller to see that most important RvR guilds have quitted with NF
without atleast a few of that gank squads a game is meaningless
how long do you think would the zerg vs zerg thing be fun?
most casual players see it as a challenge to fight the "big" guys
even if they need 2-3 fg´s to kill them.
if those groups are gone there wont be much challenge in the game anymore even for the randoms
+new MMO´s will be released in the next months and more and more ppl will swap to something new (thats what happened to UO when daoc got released)

now if you count 1 and 1 together guess how many ppl will play this game in 1 year

Most casual players as you put it, cursed the "big" guys because they couldn't compete on those terms, NF made a difference for the largest number of people in what is my opinion, more large scale rvr that most anyone can join in.

The gank grps that left constituted a minority of the player base, I still think people will come back once they hit max lvl in WoW and find less to do there than they did in DAOC. Actually people have been moving and coming back a lot whenever a new MMORPG turns up, of course it's not going to happen forever but personally I think DAOC will last a couple more years yet.

i'd rather a game gets the pve near to perfect, (WoW) then while people are busy leveling to max level ... they spend that time working on the pvp system (again WoW) then building a game and working on the pve side because more pve games are sold worldwide.
i dont mean to be picky but if he wanted to impress people with what he is saying and get people thinking, "maybe this guy has a point!" the best way to start a rant maybe is to not talk about how you're in it for the money. (even if thats all you are interested in) ... i mean seriously, ofcourse more pve games are sold worldwide, more games are made to play offline then online, you dont have much of a pvp base if it's not online, and pve isnt exactly something thats challenging unless you make mobs that can think for themselves, and come out with random styles and techniques where Each mobs reaction is different to the last mob, which is not going to happen unless each person out of 10,000 person company builds 1 mob each and doesnt discuss with a fellow employee what they programed the mob to do. if a game doesnt have pvp how long does it keep you entertained for? most of us have probably had grand theft auto, after you beat it and found most of the hidden packages did you still stay interested? most people wouldnt still be playing it after a year, even if they could include patches for it offline to enhance the game. pve might sell more games. but pvp keeps the customers addicted for longer which in my eyes seems like a much more important thing to keep people happy about when they pay monthly.

it makes sense to a roleplayer yes ofc
for a PvP orientated player its a joke

Just want to point out that the RPG bit in MMORPG stands for:
RolePlay Game.

Not PvP. Not PvE either. If you want to play a pure pvp game you've failed magnificently by plonking for a MMORPG. Perhaps read the back of the box before you buy next time?

What a lot of the people who look down on "casual" players dont or wont get is that without the casual element of the game, there would be no game, if goa or mythic only got say 100 subs a month (24/7) players the game would not have made it past its 1st patch. They are, at the end of the day a business, out to make money. If they made another DAOC now they probably wouldn't take players away from Sony/blizzard etc, they would just spread thier own player base out, which would not be a good financial move.

From a financial point of view NF has been good, i would imagine over all the player base has expanded, numbers may have dropped on hib and mid but they seem to have exploded on Alb. Mythic and Goa love casual players, they pay thier subs but only play a couple of hours a day..if that. Less strain on the servers for more money, its a shame, but in todays industry its the only way to be.

DAOC never has been or ever will be for pvp. DAOC rvr is not pvp - you only have to compare it to old UO pvp to see this.

If DAoC RvR isn't = Player vs. Player, I would like to know who's playing Aussie!!!111 som kinda robot or!?

Of course RvR = PvP, it's real players you're fighting in a computer game, therefore it can only be Player vs. Play.

i hope u understand PvP = FFA(Free For All) and RvR is realm(all ppl) vs realm(other all ppl)

thats the difference hes trying to discribe. not the fact that a realm has ppl in it therefore its PvP and RvR.

both right only totally different thing thats being said.
