I think i have my pc from the 80's actually. PVP is very much a year 2000+ thing. UO was very much an exception and It did come out late in the 90's.

DAOC never has been or ever will be for pvp. DAOC rvr is not pvp - you only have to compare it to old UO pvp to see this.

Totally agree - just pointing out that RvR isn't PvP in the true sense of the word. That's why camlann didn't really work - the game wasn't designed as pvp from the bottom up as UO was

I did actually play UO for a while. Just i was living in New Zealand and on a 34K dial up so the lag was a little bad to the US west coast DAOC players these days dont know what lag is!!!

It probably better now, when i was playing there was so many macros etc.. everyone was overnight mining.

The UO american shards were opened in sep 97, Ultima Accension was released around 2000/2001 iirc, it was very buggy and not related to the online game, but yeah Uo has celebrated its 7th anniversary.

i hardly playing RvR atm due to NF beeing total bullshit (cba with all the keep/tower/zerg shit) and due to my comp can hardly take it anyways (playing on 600Mhz cpu 256mb ram atm)
made about 2 runs to emain since NF release
on the retard home server (a.k.a excalibur) i dont bother playing at all
np if you zerglings like it but do your roleplay without me

Well it makes perfect sense what marc jacobs says but I always had the impression that RvR was the most successful feature of DAoC and the one thing that really put it ahead of other mmorpgs.

Mythic now has a brand name it didnt have when it launched daoc 3 years ago and no doubt the new game will have many subscribers. Personally I would prefer another DAoC style game with sophisticated PvP/RvR rather than a pure PvE game. The market is already saturated with PvE-only and traditional "hardcore" roleplaying games.
