so I'm pretty much giving up the whole PC thing and switching to consoles due to a number of factors but I'm really torn between the Xbox one and ps4 if I'm honest i don't think there's much in it i really like the kinect coming with the Xbox one be great for family time but the ps4 is simply gonna be more powerful in the long run.

so I'm wondering what the FH peeps are settling on.

Was very keen on the PS4 at first but with MS doing 180 on certain things I'm going with the Xbox One can't wait for release now as there are some really cool games in the works for Xbox One. They have a very exciting launch line up with a number of exclusives I will be buying on launch.

I was very tempted by the ps4 for obvious reasons - more powerful, less bullshit, psn plus ( amazing value ) etc.
I guess if PSN plus is as good on ps4 as it was on ps3 i might still buy one and just have a psn sub and not buy anything else.

That said, publishers are taking the piss if they think we're going to pay £55/game.
Fuck that I'll buy steam sales in summer/winter and get £1000 worth of "new" games for <£100.

They won't be £55 for very long maybe 3-6 months.

Ryse, Dead Rising 3 and Project Spark are 3 games I'm looking forward to, all exclusives and the first 2 are launch titles.

A quick google search shows the Xbox One has a lot more exclusives in development, 13 titles right now compared to PS4 which has 4 titles in development but Sony has yet to detail what Santa Monica are working on and Naughty Dog.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/412904/features/xbox-one-vs-ps4-the-exclusive-games/

Easily 7-8 titles there I am extremely interested in.

Gamescom this week, MS has some catching up to do and they have already said that Gamescom their press conference will be all about the exclusives for Xbox One and they have some announcements.

Exclusives just reeks of desperation tho, its basically just saying "Look at all of our shiny launch titles to mask the fact that our console is inferior", I'd rather have a wank launch list and a solid console than a good launch list with a 2nd place console that will fall behind in the long run.

Up to you isn't it at the end of the day, your console is only as good as its games.

Exclusives sell consoles

We won't know which console is better in reality until a year or two after they release, but exclusives are very very important to any console, don't forget that for a long time now Microsoft has beat Sony to a lot of exclusives on DLC over the 8 years and that could sway PS3 owners who have been annoyed at that to jump ship.

Sony still has some catching up to do with how they gain exclusives dispute some thinking Sony are the second coming, also don't forget that Sony took out patents for DRM on games so don't think they have given up on that idea yet either.

Aye up to you, your choice and your money. Cheaper console with the better hardware, better online services and better long term releases does it for me tho, I just see no sense personally in paying more for a console with lower specs made by a company that tried to shit on gamers at the start and then pulled a u-turn when they realised it wasn't going to work, the release titles are irrelevant for me as I see them as nothing but a mask to hide the consoles faults.

Initially was very tempted by the PS4 (Had the first through to 3 so far), but if I'm honest it's going to simply be the console my mates have. In the end I'll probably have both though (As with current gen) - But really undecided on the first I'll buy, certainly not looking at touching them pre-2014 though. (Maybe Q2/Q3 2014 when the consoles are more ironed out - The 'Service Pack' routine..)

That's probably the only reason i'd buy an Xbox One over a PS4, if I had a bunch of mates that were going to play COD or something.... that's the only reason tho :p

Both, have to get the xbox as all my son plays is CoD and FIFA. Don't like Sony but may get one if the games are good. Said to my son that I will give him the choice on what we get first and he will check with all his buddies.

Probably neither until 1-2 years after launch...not a lot of point really, then PS4...because I don't want to pay to be raped by Micro$oft.

At the moment, most likely PS4. Microsoft's current marketing strategy just doesn't get me. They want to get in every market, and they're willing to piss off their existing core market just to try and make gains. I know the xbox is a separate division to windows, but it's all in the same company.
Plus there's the fact I've got, and enjoy using, a PS3, and also have a PSN+ subscription, which has already grabbed me a fair few games, so I think I'm likely to stick with the platform, as long as Sony don't go and do anything stupid.

I've pre-ordered both. Will cancel the one I don't want closer to the date.

FIFA 14 included with Xbox One confirmed, list of launch titles confirmed 23 games at launch including at least 6 exclusives.

Wonder how much they paid EA for FIFA bundled with the Xbox? Surely it runs into the millions?

Well the first two Xboxes were unmitigated shit with nothing to play on except Halo (which got dull after 5 minutes), so I doubt it'll be the new one I buy.

Might have to break the habit of lifetime and buy PlayStation :)

Remember when the PS3 was supposed to be a million times more powerful than the 360 and would crush it once developers got to grips with it?

Oh wait it never happened.

Hehehe you fucking pleb.

Remember when you used to support Manchester United, but then swapped sides of the city for no apparent reason?

Oh wait, that did happen!

You utter minge breath.

Is there anywhere in the UK I can preorder a PS4 and still be guaranteed one on release day?

Yea, same with GAME

"At this time, final launch allocations have not been confirmed by SONY. Customers who placed their deposit with us online or in-store before 6th August 2013 (or preordered online without deposit prior to 24th May 2013) will have priority over available stock at launch.
Any customers who deposited after 6th August 2013 will be given priority over further stock, so the best way to make sure you get your hands on a console as close to launch day as possible is to deposit with us."

Ordered mine around the 8th of June so should be good for launch day I suppose.

As PC gaming has taken over as the go to for me, I wasn't going to buy any other the new consoles, but might get Wii U later down the line for the Mario and Zelda games. Though if a decent emulator comes out on the PC, i'll go down that route instead. Dolphin works well for playing Wii games.
