Nah, I was tempted to delete but didn't have the heart to throw away all the money I have spent in subs. That would be really fucking stupid. ;)

I...just...quit. Planetside is boring as hell to play and I'm not gonna waste £8 per month on it so I need something else to fill the void between studying, eating and sleeping.

Hmmm, I was just trying to think of all the reasons which made me quit and by god, there are a lot.

When I first started playing the game it was a magical experience. EVERYONE was polite, considerate and generous. High level people would appear out of nowhere and give me some cash/itamz whilst I was resting in between getting my butt whipped on Salisbury Plains and give me helpful advice...without me asking for it. When I say 'helpful advice' I mean just that and not the snide criticism that seems so prevalent these days. Nowadays most people wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.

So I finally got a char into its high 40s (I think it was Sissyfoo the ickle fire wizard) and took him to Emain to see what this RvR thing was all about. It wasn't too bad to begin with. I did some nice damage on red con trolls and kobolds and managed to ding R1L6 before getting a tad weary of the whole 'they zerg so we zerg' routine. This is something that has gone on for too long and I can only manage about 30 mins in Emain / Odins before I finally give up. I don't know how you RP whores manage to do it day in and day out.

Then SC came out...bye bye damage. Nobody wanted to go on Itam hunts anymore. "C'mon guys. We are organising a trip to LB for some itamz", my guild would say. "What is the point? SC is better!", the alliance would reply. Hardly anyone wants to do any old skool hunting these days. Sure, the drops aren't great but I still find the raids a lot of fun.

There is an overwhelming sense of mistrust, apathy (not THE Apathy) and disharmony in this realm. Since the relics were stolen from us we have made a few attempts to get them back but, and correct me if I am wrong, we haven't done anything about them in the last 3-4 months. Shortly after they were pinched there were several attempts to get them back but it seemed to me that only the mega-big guilds knew about it. Who knows, if more Alliance leaders were notified then there could have been 6 shiny relics sitting in both our relic keeps...or probably not. Like I said, who knows? ;) Quite a few people have made an attempt to bridge the gap between alliances, Tilda being the most recent that I remember, but nothing ever comes of it. It just seems to me that nobody gives a flying crap.

Another issue that made me decide to quit was the fact that a great deal of the groups I have joined are comprised of teeny dickheads who have nothing better to do than mouth off and insult other people. All they seem to do is bitch, whine and tell people how to play their characters. If they die once then they have a hissy fit and leave in a sulk, leaving the rest of the group to piss into the wind. I was in a group in Avalon City recently and it was all going really, really well. I was completely baffled until the cleric asked how old everyone was...turns out that I was the youngest one in the group and the others had similar complaints about the level of immaturity that has been growing in the recent months.

I think that sums up the majority of my reasons for quitting. GOA bumping up the price for subs to £8 per month with no tangible benefits didn't really help but that is the way things go in a Capitalist world. I don't have too much to gripe about in terms of Mythic. Aside from the SC implementation with which I have a serious love / hate relationship, they haven't really nerfed any of my classes. I do think that they take a heavy handed approach to bringing balance to the game and that, like most companies, they only listen to the whines because if enough people whine then chances are there is something wrong with the product.

I guess the real cincher...the thing that made me realise that it was time to end the subs payment was...when I realised that the BEST group I had been in over the last month, the one where I had got the most loot, the most XP possible and had the most fun...was when I was grouped with my buff bot. I think that is a pretty good indication that it is time to call it a day.

Anyhoo, I may return one day...possibly to see what the new Add-on is like but in the meantime I hope Albion matures enough to dig itself out of the cess pool that it has fallen into. With more and more of the old skool mature players leaving it seems less and less likely but, like they say in the hood, stranger shit has happened.

I was gonna make a list of all the people who made my stay in Albion a happy one but that is so cliché. Instead I was going to make a list of all the people who made my stay in Albion a living nightmare and who I hope get run over by a bus ... but I couldn't remember all of their names. You know who you are!

That's the biggest thing, both in-game and on these boards.

But don't let it make you quit, just keep playing it how it should be played and we can hope that one day they grow out of it :)

Tbh, i do believe the chronicals/xml being down is causing some of the problems. You have no real idea of alliance leaders, no idea of high crafters, no ideas of experienced players. If they were up, all you would need to do is use the searchs on daoc.gamescape.com, make a list of people to contact and organize relic raids etc. Fair enough we have BW, but not everyone reads here and its not the brightest of ideas to post relic raids on public boards. But for the most part, i keep playing the uk servers, because the guild i'm in with 6 of 8 chars has such a good atmosphere (Drakan-templars). We constantly rib each other and help each other out, but we're still somewhat small as a whole and haven't managed to recruit any muppets. As for rvr, there are at least some shining stars out there still which make it fun. And they also put up with me doing nada damage, even though i'm suppose to be a nuker. I'm just a firestarter without wind and just a target in a long dress. Although i will make a special mention for Link, as Link managers to res me so oftern in rvr its silly, even though i've never been in its group todate.

There are a number of problems with this game´s so called "endgame". Some have been mentioned already.

- SC
Basically reduced every non-dragon non-Sidi, non-other-odd-special drop to the level of a bloodstone. People don´t need drops. They can produce everything they want on their own. And that´s not a good thing for a RPG.
Everybody is running aroud in armour with capped stats and max resistances and whatever, while lvl 16 chars are roaming Salisbury plains in epic armours (which is what we´ve got for dinging 50... thanks a lot. I´d take the 1 plat id I had a choice). How much more perverted can it get?

- RvR
Todays RvR sucks donkey balls. I know, it´s not one realms fault, there´s plenty of unused RvR zone available. Still, people are going to Emain and Emain is considered the prime RvR zone. So instead of fixing LA or block/parry or other stuff, Mythic should start thinking about revitalizing the idea of RvR (I`m sure it can´t be "zerg"). They should introduce small RvR zones, like 25% of a BG zone and make it 1fg vs. 1fg only. Full groups on the pad are porting into such a zone when there´s an empty spot, the defending group will stay in the zone as long as they can. Same for 2fg vs. 2fg. IMO this would make RvR a lot more interesting, since everybody could decide to either zerg in Emain or go for dedicated fg-fg action.

There are a lot more things that would be nice to have. RvR needs new motivation, otherwise people will continue deleting/quitting.

...just my five cent

BEst idea ive heard for RvR yet, lets just hope that the new RvR add on when it comes address some of the major issues with the current Zerg v Zerg

It is a nice idea and it would be fun....but,

That ain't what this game is about, and I think what alot of players forget is just what the game they are playing is about. They buy the game, pay the subs and then whine about it.

It says quite clearly on the box and on Mythics site that this game is about RvR. It was a novel concept and Mythic are expanding on it. They are forcing bigger groups in RvR, not smaller. Their concept, game design and focus is on large battles.

I hate the state of RvR atm as much as anyone, and remember how fun it was in Emain when anything larger than 1FG was a keep take force. But, at the same time, I understand that if I want to play this game I have to accept that Mythic run it and Mythic want larger battles.

A game called Shadowbane has differing goals. SB is pitched at the smaller Guild vs Guild level and features tanks with so many hits that it takes multiple opponants to take em down, but wearing armour that means they are almost immobile. It has many aspects players claim they want in DAoC..and it sucks bigtime.

Lets just hope that the RvR expansion, combined with hardware upgrades, makes the 'epic' battles viable. If they don't then we either lump it or leave.

As for player attitudes? I think alot of this is down to impatience and more and more younger players. Players who didn't start in the early days when noone had any cash, everything was new, and an 89% qual weapon was uber, just don't want to be level 20/30/40/49. They want to be 50, wearing fully sc'd gear and they want it now.

It is the logging on death mentality and it isn't confined to Alb/excal. Was recently on a Tuscaren Glacier hunt on Mid/Pryd. The organisers made it clear that the raid was for drops and fun, not for loot and xp. Within 30 mins 2 players suicided because they weren't in G1 and therefore weren't getting xp/cash. Both were level 50?

There were no deaths apart from the puller for a good 90 mins until we got a bad pull and half the force died. Suddenly graves sprang up everywhere as half those who died released. I have seen this happen in Sidi aswell. Why? Why do players go on raids against 70+ mobs and get pissed and log after 1 death.

Maybe it is the appalling attitude by experienced players towards newer ones that drives this. At the start we were all the same level. Anyone starting now gets treated as a brainless no hoper just because they aren't 50. If you aren't 50 it seems you are totally incapable of knowing anything about this game. Is it any wonder players don't want to hang around and enjoy the game while grinding.

For an RvR fix the obvious one to me sems to be geting much greater RP and even EXP if you are in a gp smaller than 3. A check on the group size of any successful kills should also be a factor.

Aother simple idea would be wide roaming MOBs in RvR land that give excellent drops when killed by small groups - that would encourage a wider spread of small FG's across any given territory.

I agree there. That´s why I said that those fg-fg areas should be an addition to the existing large scale RvR concept, so people are having the choice what they want to do.
It may be Mythics concept and game design to enforce large battles, but when it turns out to be boring, the concept is flawed and that´s the point, where a company should start to reconsider their game design. Actually I don´t think large RvR scenarios are per definition bad. They just need to add some new goals and motivation to go and participate in such battles because IMO, rp´s and rr´s are not enough to justify wasting 90% of the playtime dead, on pad or rez sick and the other 10% mezzed after casting one spell. :)

And as I said, SC was definitely a major blow to the concept of DAOC. If people would actually have to go and kill for their drops even after lvl 50, it would be a lot more fun to play a high lvl char.

Just to clear this statement dakeyras i take you refering to me and Eiis logging, only reason i logged when i did was we had killed one of the Epic mobs and the time was ticking on for 10:30pm and i cant unlike some people sit playing games all night long.

I never ever complained about xp or loot why the hell would i, i dont need anything xp or loot wise. So please dont make it sound like i was complaining, i lead our group for 2 1/2 hours i think that is long enough.

Sissyfoo i agree with alot of what you and the others have said, my albion armsmen i created at Release but i left Albion just before christmas because i also felt the same way, lucky Mid Prdy is a decent place and nice atmosphere i hope it lasts.

Sorry to see you go mate good luck with what ever you do.
