Ok so I need two bikes when I got to the Netherlands:
1] a commuting folding bike to do 10kms (at the most) a day, it has to fold to be allowed on the dutch trains...
2] a round town bike so that I can do my shopping etc. I am aware that riding a man bike in NL is not acceptable
as apparently I may need to wear a skirt *laughs*.
I know what I don't want... it can't be pink and the rear break must be on the handle bar, not by pushing backwards on the peddle... I didn't know such a mechanism existed until I got to ride Stoff's granneh's bike which is both pink eurgh and has the weird breaking mechanism.
Finally I they can't be overly expensive as they will probably be stolen several times.
As far as purchases I am hoping that TdC will act as translator and ensure that I am not being ripped off by some trader taking advantage of a poor English girl
