oh fuck lol man that was satisfying!!

If your going to have animals in captivity use them to educate and show people that they are to be respected and looked after, not as "entertainment" when the animal clearly does not enjoy it (some species do enjoy being given tasks, i.e parrot shows in Longleat, sealions love to play and show off and as long as they are treated well i've nothing against that) like the kickboxing chimps in Thailand (sounds funny but its really horrific).

People should learn that animals are not there for them. We're here together and none is the supreme species.

Not certain but i think I saw a clip on TV(or maybe the net?) where this wild animal guy gets his head stuck in a croc's jaws. was a while ago so I cant really remember it well though :)

Agree with Ez though on this - think they're stupid and nasty to use the animals for this sort of thing, I'm very much against animal cruelty.

My friend gave me a link earlier today infact on the subject - was about the chinese fur trade - I couldnt believe what I saw tbh, I didnt watch much as it just pisses me off, but what I watched of it had the animals piled in cages one on top of the other like sardines (literally). I stopped watching when they started offloading the cages - they just picked them up and threw them off like hay bales.

People who treat animals like that should be charged as if it was a human they were doing it to - assault for mistreatment and murder if they kill the animals, might put some of the sick bastards off if they did that.

kinda gone off topic there a little ^^ sorry but its a subject I feel strongly about. here's the fur trade link i was on about incase anyones interested... be warned though its real nasty.

We're talking about Crocs here... they are one of the few beings on this planet which have hardly developed any further at all for many million years. They are more machine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finite_state_machine) than animal. That was what that poor man was trying to demonstrate and imho he did it very well. 99% of the time they react to a given tactile input with the same response. I.e. you touch their nose, they open their mouth. It's not something they learn. It's the way their neural system is hardwired. However as we all know those vending machines can be a bitch! Sometimes they eat your money... sometimes they eat your arm.

Most likely he moved his arm too fast and the Croc sensed the breeze between its jaws. That would instantly trigger the 'Bite and roll' you saw.

rofl i think he was actually trying to impress the toursits and earn a few more dollahs rather than explain how crocodiles are one of the most impressive species on the face of the planet, that they are so well evolved they havent had to change and that "ooh look at how brave and macho i am *tap tap tap* waddafuckitsgotmyarmlongtime!!!!"

Any real species aware wildlife worker knows that when you deal with an animal as powerful as that you show respect, you stay back and make sure you have a margin for escape because if you piss it off or it decides to play your going to lose, anyone with a half working brain cell knows you can't tap an armour plated bear trap with a brain and expect it to take it.

You dont know what he said. :) Also I think he was perfectly aware of what he was doing. I already said that crocs are more like machines than animals (Btw I count humans as animals too but thats a different topic.). By touching the crocs nose he suggested to its 'brain' that there was food directly infront of it. Hence it opened its mouth. That croc was sitting there just waiting for something to trigger its 'crush, kill and maim' program. If things had gone right he'd have moved his arm throu the crocs jaws and thereby would have demonstrated exactly that: A croc is more or less a finite state machine. No input, no action.

However there is a very very important difference between a finite state machine and a croc: A croc runs on a neural net rather than relays or flipflops. That neural net is able to finetune the trigger treshold... he'd probably still have his arm in one pice if he'd have tried that under wildlife conditions. The croc would have been very unlikely to react to a breeze between its jaws because of a higher amount of 'noise' (i.e. the natural breeze).
What the guy did (and he was perfectly aware of it) was cocking a gun and then aiming at his arm. Perfectly safe if you stay away from the trigger. What he was not aware of was that the trigger in this case was super sensible.

lol i'm sorry i know im being argumentative and i dont mean to be picky and i respect your opionions but i disagree with them, crocs do have feelings, i dont mean in the "though art as beautiful as a summers day" all emotional and whattnott but they feel when things irritate/hurt them, they have to otherwise they wouldnt know when they were in danger. and the guy obviously did not know as much as he thought he did or what he was doing.

If he did he would not have put his arm in a live untranqualised croc's mouth, i think the clip proves how little knowledge he actually had on the animal he worked with.

i promise i'll leave you alone now... please don't get a restraining order.

He has probably done it 6 times a day 300 days a year for years before and nothing happened.

About the 'crocs have feelings too' thing I wont argue cause I got no time right now. I am going to do an important test now and gotta catch a bus to do so. :)
