One of the most overpriced and poorly organised races on the calendar has perhaps been shown the door. And about time too. I've done most of the races around the world, and tbh even the facilities at Sau Paulo are better than Northampton.

The last time I was there, the toilet facilities were crap, the food was massively overpriced (and very poor quality), zero attempts made to make the place look pretty, a main grandstand that still has no fucking roof, and after all this time and money, there were still traffic problems getting in and out.

For gods sake, relocate the British GP to Donnington. Its a better circuit for racing, has much better access to motorways (with a short dual carriageway installed perhaps) and a whacking great big airport a couple of miles away. You've got lots more hotels nearby, and plenty more room to wonder around and spend time inbetween races.

Although Bernie Ecclestone has explicitly advised the government not to invest tax-payers money in trying to save it.

Which could mean one of two things: Either he needs to ensure that it doesn't get funding so that he can get rid of it like he's wanted to for years, or that he's going to axe it anyway. Bear in mind that two current circuits will lose out next season.

I think this would be a shame in all honesty. Silverstone has been on the GP calender for over 50 years now, and it still remains the best track in Britain (layout wise anyway - anyone who's played any sort of F1 game will be able to agree it's one of the best on the calender).

This is the perfect example of why F1 is so shit. The F1 organisers have their head's so firmly up their arses they've forgotten what motor racing is actually about. I actually think Bernie Ecclestone should take F1 where the money is, because atleast it'll be them poor chinese bastards that will be wasting their money on the boring hour parade. The facilities will be nice though, that's the important thing...

Really, you need to get a grip. F1 has always been this way. Many people seem to think that in the past, every race was full of action and overtaking, when in reality its always been a bit of a procession. Try and make it to an F1 race, just the noise and the smell alone are worth paying for.

The main differences between then and now are that the sport is safer (less death), the overtaking tends to happen on turns (because the cars are too quick) and the cars are more reliable.

And Bodhi, IMO you're wrong. I've been to nearly every circuit in this country, and Brands/Donnington own Silverstone. In fact, if you want a really exciting race, try Oulton Park or Cadwell (both sadly far too small for F1). Silverstone is plain, flat, and apart from Maggots/Becketts, is just plain boring now they've removed all the fast corners.

You'd almost get away with being so condescending if you were not talking bullshit. I could whip out my e-penis and say how long I've been following F1 and other motorsport, but I really can't be arsed, as you won't take any notice anyway. (F1 hasn't changed? LO fucking L)

Prove me wrong. Statisically, theres more overtaking now then there has ever been. The team with the best car wins the most races, the remainder being either driver skill or luck. Thats how F1 has always been, unlike a myriad of other motorsports.

Is it merely a coincidence that the team with the best car is always the team with Michael Schumacher driving?
I'm not really the right person to comment because to me F1 is extremely dull. The first corner is interesting because something might happen, then the race descends into monotony, then maybe the last couple of minutes might be interesting depending on how close some racers are to each other come the chequered flag.

From what I gather then, if they installed some new portaloos when there's an event, put a roof over a stand and lowered the price on burgers it'd be a great race on the F1 calendar again?

As far as smell and noise goes.. If I wanted that I could go to the baby changing rooms in Lakeside and get all that for free.
