Got paid today...

Logged into my online banking to pay a couple of bills...

Turns out some **** has fraudulently emptied my account yesterday (in the US???)...

Then for their added bonus, they managed to get a second wedge today because the pay went in...

*sigh*

Oh god, Meg :/ They took it all? All your wages? Can you get it back? Who can we stab for you? Point us in a direction with stabbing tools, and unleash us.

Shit. :(

I had this happen to me. Not on quite as large a scale but they managed to get a grand of my money before I noticed.

Hopefully your bank will believe you had nothing to do with it and sort it pretty quick.

All I had to do when the 1k was taken was sign a letter to swear it wasn't my transaction. They sorted it out very quickly and even offered to extend my overdraft by 1k while it was being done so I would be without the funds.

How did they get your details to log in and transfer the money? I thought most reputable banks had reasonable encryption and multiple levels of passwords and suchlike.

They didn't Mofo8, it's all card transactions so I guess some fucker cloned my card or something.

As another added bonus, not only have they taken balance of account & wages, turns out they've managed to take the account overdrawn by £199.84 which is most amusing as I don't have an overdraft on this account and never have.

*sigh*

I had mine cloned 2 weeks before Christmas, about 10 people i know in this area also had theirs cloned. its the new chip and pin cards they are useless, all people need is your pin, which when they got mine they used the CCTV (lol) in the petrol station.
Depending on your bank they should be very understanding and as said above, would probably extend your over draft until the matter is resolved.

They need to bin chip and pin and move onto biometric ID.

In your dealings with the bank just remember that its them that have been defrauded, not you.

Just in case they try any funny stuff.

Petrol stations, never use your card in petrol stations.

It should get sorted fairly quickly mate, just got to get the forms that decalre you had nothing to do with it off to the bank, possibly get a crim reference number if they ask for one.

+1 rep for that.

Just went through my statement & I've been thinking about it all day. Just so happens that the last place I used my card was a BP garage that I've never been to before.

What really gets me is that I was visiting my Nan who's currently in a residential care home at the time and I usually fill up near work, but on the day I was worried about being late to see her.

/me looks on BP's website for complaints form

Shit. :( My dad got done as well, never worked out what happened (he thinks it was an outdoors cashpoint) but the bank were sympathetic and he was reimbursed. I only really use them if there is no other alternative, much prefer to go and use the machines the banks have inside their shop.

It happened to me this time last year ... bank paid up within a week so I wouldn't worry.

The bit that cracked me up was that the bank allowed 5 (clearly dodgy) transactions to go through on seperate occassions ... for a not inconsiderable amount of cash ... they then called me up to question the 6th transaction! I mean how much did they think I was going to spend at the Sunglasses Hut in California ffs?

Sorry mate, shit situation :(. Which bank? I'm with HSBC and they seem pretty shit hot on this kind of thing. When I was in the UK they spotted a cloning operation on a NatWest machine I used and cancelled my card the next day, and since I've been travelling they've put my card on hold TWICE while the fraud team checked the transactions were really me (which was a pain in the arse at the time, but I suppose I should be grateful really).

*double sigh*

Ok, so, here's "My Thursday 01 February 2007" in breif.
  1. Wait in for Sky to install my ADSL, Sky+ and standard Sky box that were ordered in December. Today officially becomes week 5 in the saga of: wait indoors, bloke turns up, I can see he doesn't have ladders to do the job (special heights), want to tell him he's a **** and to fuck off and die but can't because he's only a lemming doing what he's told, wait for him to talk shit (a.k.a. tell me somebody will ring me to sort it out).
  2. Telewest cable (Digital TV and Cable Modem) is disconnected right on schedule. I allowed a 1 month overlap between losing cable modem & sky broadband, in future if I ever do this I won't be cancelling the old service until the new one is 100% working and I'm happy with it (read, i'm never switching service providers again, ever, it's a fucking waste of cunting time).
  3. Brought home my Dad's work laptop to resolve a virus problem on it. No broadband = AOHell Dialup for downloading software, patches, etc, etc.
  4. So, I get past all the above, fix the laptop (eventually) and think to myself "Fuck it, not worth getting pissed off over". Then I open this mornings post to discover the form from Barclays that I have to fill in to get my money back. So, off I trot to login to my online banking. Passcode written on login card doesn't match, doesn't match again, doesn't match one more and strike three, you're out! No printout of account, so no ability to send off form, so no money (not that it matters because they've still not issued my replacement card).
So, in summary: I've got no TV, no Broadband, No Bank Card, No Money and am having to post this using AOL. 2007 officially sucks donkey balls.

How are you guys?

PS: 5 would be those horrible avatars.

*triple sigh*

The wondrous 2007 continues with: Some prick driving into the back of my car deliberately, because I didn't go through a green light as it would have completely block a road junction.

Mystic, i can err...sympathise? with this. 2006 was total wank and 2007 hasn't started at all better.

Not going into much detail, but all i can say is try to keep your head up and give life the good ol' "F*ck you, i'm still gonna make it" and flip up the middlepointer :D
