I'm not against PvP. I have played both EVE and Planetside which are PvP centred (Planestide has nothing else, and EVE has the hardcore "you can kill people anywhere" approach to PvP, if you don't count the police turning up in secure zones - and you can't really get far if you stay in the secure areas anyway) and enjoyed them a lot. I had a BR19 CR3 char on planetside, and was almost in a Battleship in EVE when I got distracted by CoH. I played DAoC for a long time, and was reasonably active on the RvR front for quite a while (RvR being different to PvP, I found emain milegate farming a bit dull, but keep raids and defending the guild keep were a lot of fun). If CoH had be designed and balanced for a PvP and PvE mix from the ground up, and had gone live with it, I'd probably still be playing it now.

The issue I have, is CoH IS NOT designed for PvP at the moment. It's not even remotely balanced for PvP. Having played PvP games, I understand what's required for PvP to work, and I'm not confident that it's technically possible to balance the game for PvP without totally ruining the game experience they have now. I'd much rather have a fun PvE game, than a crap game that does both.

But I think I've said enough on this subject already. I'm gonna look like all the whining fools on the official forums if I keep making negative posts like this. I've stated my opinion - I have no problem with PvP in MMOGs (I do have a problem with greifers though, but that's a separate issue), but I'm worried that in trying to implement PvP in to the existing structure of CoH, they'll end up ruining the game, and have half assed PvP, and unworkable PvE.

*They could make diff arenas with diffrent restrictions, ie leave out diffrent skills.

*They could do the GW aproatch and not let players take all the skills to a battle but make them choose wich one they want to have before a battle. If they were smart they would make a system where players could earn "special
points" from PvE. Points wich would be used to "Buy" wich skills you wanted to take into the arena. So say one char has 100 of these points, he can then use these eavery time he wants to PvP to choose what skills he wants to take to the arena. And if a skill is considered very powerfull in PvP it will cost alot of points to take.

*They could make it so that you didnt get to use all youre enhance slots but had to choose like 10 or smt beforehand that they wish to make active in the arena (all the others will not work while in the arena)

This way they could ballance things without interfering with PvE, giving diff classes a diff ammount of points and the skills wich are considered very powerfull in PvP would cost alot to take with you to the arena so they you wouldnt be able to take so many other skills.

And IMO they should take a bit of the FFXI approatch to PvP, make diffrent games where the main purpose is a "game" but you can allso hit eatchother to acieve one thing or another. In FFXI I heard that they had races with checkpoints, soccer games etc.

Gif inventive DEVs :)

that would be sooo cool, instead of the usual "bash eachother on the head untill either one falls down" type of pvp.

Could say that about almost any MMOG and it'd probably be true. :p

Well, if anyone decides they don't want their account anymore...perhaps we can strike a deal. I'd like to play, and I have the software but I just moved into a new place and, along with summer classes, am pretty broke at the moment so I don't have the cash to go out and buy the game.

But if someone has decided that they don't like the game/aren't going to play it anymore, IM me at blackbear219 and maybe we can work something out with that account you're never going to use again.

Well I'm still playing CoH, and I'm still loving it :)

I have several sub 10 alts and a level 17 and a 12. But yeah theres not as much to do as in daoc, but daoc is too timeconsuming and toa made it worse :\.

CoH is perfect for now, and if they keep adding new content i hope they can make it last till CoV comes out.

If you're tired of the DAoC XP grind, try out CoH its nice and refreshing... I dont look at my XP bar anymore.. I just have fun... and thats whats its all about imo.

But if combat isnt your thing, stay away. CoH is all about combat and doing story driven missions.. but no real loot or crafting (crafting will be in soon..)
