tbh the only bit about the CL that I'm personaly critical of is this


To me the name of the league has become misleading at best, and dont get me wrong, I'm all for having more than 1 team from the top leagues, but imo the number 2 from the respective top leagues should not resive an auto qual to the group stage, this should imo fall to the lower associations ranked league champions.

It's not down to fluke, it was down to good organisation in the defense and hard-working. I wouldn't call it a fluke - I'd just go as far to say that Greece weren't consistent enough to build on that.

Haha, when Greece get thrashed 4-0 vs England a few months later, thats when I can call it a fluke

Oh, and where are England in your European Champions Qualifying Group? Last time I saw Greece were top of theirs :worthy:

Big deal if England are 3rd in thier group? Thats what you get with any team after massive changes. Not to mention the inuries that have pestered us.

And I think Greece's group is a lot easier than Englands, Turkey being the only notable team. England have Croatia, not to mention ISrael and Russia who put up to fight. Oh, and I fogot Macedonia, who seem to be always paired with England and always seem to get a draw at home...

Problem with that you have the teams from Wales, who are mainly semiprofessional and other countries where the league isnt as strong financially as the other Euro teams, like France, Denmark and Holland

true but even denmark, belgium, sweden, norway, swizerland, austria, and a bunch of eastern euro champions ect as is atm do not get any autospot in the group stage, infact f.exp that the danish champions have to go through 2 qualifing rounds is abit silly imo.

How bad would it be if the G14 clubs actually formed their own league? Then our game wouldnt be dominated by money (as much!) All teams would be more reliant on home grown talent and our national teams would get better (Scotland might actually qualify for a competion!)

It would go pout of business, the week in, week out of see superstar vs superstar teams would get boring. Least with the Premiership you have weaker teams against stronger ones, where the odd fluke win could happen

Actually, the area that would go out of business would be the normal leagues I fear, which be why they were so against the idea in my opinion.

The reason for this is they couldnt compete financially with the G14 teams. The tv money would reduce as all the top players/clubs have left the league. etc etc.

Personnally I dont think it is a good idea for other reasons then stated above. But that not here or there. In general though it would be detrimental for all leagues that lose their top clubs (and remember they are likely to expand G14 further then they already have)

thats like saying the world cup gets boring. If the G14 left the premirship team left would lose the 50 million a year from sky. Sky's big games are never Reading Derby it is Man U Liverpool. And the people that think less forieng players = a better English team i still think are worng it ill just mean more English players who were previously not ood enough playing in the Premiership.

Scottish football proves this its rare to see a scottish team that is not mostly Scottish players. Celtic Rangers and Hearts excluded. However scotland has it right because they know you imrove your team by getting kids interestd in sport and playing football then when you find a talent you look after it

The reason why froegin players are so good is because thier coaching is a lot better. Many managers have said its the level 6-14 coaching is not upto scratch.

The Scottish pre-19 training is rather good (we got 2nd place in the U19 WC!), and we are hopefully on the road to recovery from foreign imports - well, apart from Hearts who are basically a Lithuania XI team these days heh.

I think its frightening that English football academies are packed with talent but after they hit 18, what happens to them? I read an article on the BBC website about the rising number of foreign players in the EPL, on the opening day of the season, something like 38% of the starting players were English and the rest were from abroad. Ok, if you have the talent then it shouldnt really matter where you come from, but you have to think there are English players that are as good as say 80% of the imports?
