Root it for Titanium Backup, so you can backup all your apps. Unlock your bootloader or change your recovery so you can make clockworkmod recovery backups of your phone as well.

I've rooted all my Android phones so far for backups and not much else, it's nice to be able to restore application data when transferring to a new phone or ROM instead of having to setup everything again.

Pff...I give up.

Tried backing up with Kies before rooting. But get "unexpected error" everytime it tries to back up. Can't use Titanium Pro to back up as you need to be rooted beforehand!

I got a phone. It works. Will just wait for SGS3 with ICS.
