I liked both series of Sherlock. Snappy dialogue, fun plots and great interplay between the 2 leads. I was very dubious about the guy playing Moriarty and didn't really like his style but he did look suitably unhinged at times. Of series 2, I only found The Hounds of Baskerville a bit dull but there was still plenty to chuckle along with. Redherringtastic fun.

I'd be much happier if he was addicted to Opium rather than fags...

When Moffat stays close to the original plot or dialogue and just adds 21st century pizzaz or humour he is very good. When he strikes out on his own path (aka 'doing a Peter Jackson') he shows his limitations. There were some good parts in Hound of the Baskervilles but, overall, it was pap. Sir Arthur would turn in his grave at the some of the lines he gives Sherlock.

Similarly with the last episode, very good when he stays fairly close to the plot and the dialogue ... then we have the risable roof scene.

Steven Moffat only wrote the first episode of the season (which was the best one IMO), Turamber.
