But its still football
you have still yet to proove/disproove your theiry of football having a larger worldwide appeal than cricket.
Fact of the matter is nearly noone in asia plays football, yet in every town/city you go they are playing cricket.
No its not a statistic is life experience ;)

How many people worldwide partake in football compared to cricket. Ok, i cba googling it but me and you both know that there is a much bigger player base of football than cricket. If you say otherwise you are just being pedantic. Id go as far as to say its as big as 10000:1. Viewing figures are another indication. Billions worldwide watched the football world cup. Again, i cba googling viewing figures but im sure that no where near as many people watched the last cricket world cup. Football goes from strength to strength, cricket has had to try and rebrand itself to make it more exciting by introducing the 20/20 league and these fancy new coloured kits. Cant remember what game it was the other week, might of been lancs vs a.n other, but the commentator was ejaculating about the 6000 crowd.
What about sponsorship revenues, do you really think cricket has the same financial clout as football, and has sponsors willing to pay as much as they do for football? Of course not, and why is that? Because more people watch football

Europe containting a large majority of economically developed countries means there is more money to throw at football.
Just because there isnt a large folowing in Europe doesnt mean worldwide is bigger than cricket
All your points have been empty and none backed up by facts
i say its 500000000000000000000:1 in favour of cricket, dont have any proof, dont have any resonable logic to back it up. But neither did you so ill just pull number out the proverbial hat too

As i said you are just being pedantic. Im not solely talking about europe, im talking worldwide.

28.8 billion people worldwide watched the 2002 football world cup.
Estimates are the 1.4 billion will watch the 2007 cricket world cup.
Both these figures I googled

http://devdata.worldbank.org/extern...tedCountry=WLD&CCODE=WLD&CNAME=World&PTYPE=CP

according to worldbank theres only 6.3 ish billion people (2003) alive on this planet? who was watching???? THE ALIENS WATCH FOOTBALL??? woot :p

oh and no i dont like cricket either, but they play it in india which is like 1/6 of the world population so you can hardly call it unpopular (if you are measuring by how many people watch/play it :p )

And if the entire world population watched 5 games, it means that total viewing figures for those 5 games would be 31.5 billion. Maths and the ability to understand data is a wonderful thing.

theres less cricket teams than football
so there are less matchs by default in the cricket world cup
in your own words

Marc, if all cricketers tried to hit a ball as hard as they could the ashes would last an incredibly short time.

You have alot of different shots, each designed to be used against a ball. Most bowlers do bowl at exceptionally fast speeds, some spin the ball however meaning that a blind old whack will get you a wicket, a catch or run out.

Cricket is very tatical. It is quite dull to watch however, i'll give ya that.

p.s - marcs a fag.

I know it isnt very popular, but for almost anyone over the age of 15 to have not heard of cricket, as, afterall, it is a worldwide sport.

One thing you do have to realise is cricket is by FAR the most popular game in india which represents almost 1/5 of the world population. When you include pakistan and bangldesh there is more than 1/5 of the world population in that small segment of the world alone whose primary sporting pastime is cricket. Sure its not as popular as football but to suggest it isnt popular or a worldwide sport is foolishness.

Oh and at least it doesnt turn into a gay porno everytime someone scores a point like soccer does.
