Serious Cat Owner help please.

Its got too much now, this infernal ball of fur is starting to really piss me off in the mornings.

I normally retire around 23.00 - 24.00 which results in a nice restfull 7 hours sleep before getting up for work. However this is now cut down to 5hrs due to the picture above who decided to start meowing at 5.30 this morning. Despite having pillows thrown in his general direction didn't stop. This has been going on for pretty much all of last week and I end up going into work feeling like im still half asleep.

Its clear he wants feeding and letting out to use the garden as the same happened on Saturday morning and within 10m of being fed and let out he was back inside asleep again.

I've tried feeding him just before bed - but this doesn't help at all.

All I can think is leave some dried food in the kitchen over night and put the litter tray back out so he can use that if needed - arghhhh.

And anyone who says "have him put down" to me is a feline version of a "die irl" so don't do it !

Don't change the diet, the cat should accomodate to your living.

Don't feed the cat before bedtime, should poo before bed if anything. Feeding before bed only results in wanting of the poo'ing.

Stick with the meowing and don't throw pillows. Don't pay ANY attention to the bugger and it will stop.

Oh and cat's should have infinite use of the litter box and dry food. So keep those at open sight to the "cat's eye" *hehe*

PS: Don't own cats, never have, never will, dogs rule, but i know crap.

Leave a bowl of biscuits out for him overnight - if he is genuinely hungry, he will just go and eat them. If thats still a problem then try it with the litter tray - just like people as cats get older they get less control of their bladders and feel the need to go more.

If he's still whining with all that, then he's just whining to get attention - just ignore him. Don't throw things at him, just completely ignore him and he should stop soon, although this may take a few nights

Lock it in a room where you can't hear it or leave it outside for a night to teach it a lesson.
1 of my cats is to lazy to meow he just looks at you till he gets what he wants.
The other is a moaning bastard of a cat so i leave him out side alot.

Well i meant the diet as in feeding time.

Kibble/dry food/etc should be used as an "emergency" snack. Though leaving it without food for the night is as good as an option. It'll get used to it.

This is a battle of wills and at this moment, the cat is winning as it gets your attention. Get earplugs, do whatever is needed, but ignore it and it will stop. Eventually. If it doesn't, the cat needs a trip to the vet. For an observation not a put down.

Have patience!

My cat used to do the same back in the days when she was still a lil kitty. If you keep ignoring her, she´ll eventually get the hint and adjust her night/day scheme to yours. It may take a while, maybe a month or two, but it pays off in the end.

On a more serious note. Do you let it sleep in the same room as you at night?. I used to have my bedroom door closed at night and i'd have one of the cats meowing away at any given out of the night. Turns out it just wanted to kip on my bed with me, then it could come and go as needed

Bloody thing doesn't sleep anywhere else - it insists on jumping on my nice king sized double bed and positioning himself right slap bang in the middle.

Ok hes just gona get fed in the morning and when I have my evening meal.

Litter box will be put back out and filled with kitty litter

Ear plugs will be purchased if needed

i feed mine tuna in morning and evening around 7ish
but theres always dry biscuits out for them if they get hungry
put the litter tray out, and just ignore it obviously seems to be working to get your attention

but how can something so cute annoy you! that pic is a good one

my little cat who constantly craves attention, isnt allowed in my room as she always plays around on my bed and i get all itchy during the night, but sometimes door opens a notch, and in the mornings see her paw trying to open it and she squeels or 'clicks' to wake me up! hasnt developed a meow yet
cant have a bath in peace if im the only one in! she either hides in the airing cuboard when im running it, so she can talk to me during or! you hear her squeels and see her paw under the door GIVE ME LOVE!

Ignoring ftw.

It's the only way. One of our cats used to wake me up at 6am for food. I'd make sure I looked like I was still asleep and ignored him. After a few days, he got the message, and now doesn't try to wake me up.

(On the downside, also meant I lost the furry alarm clock, and thus now can oversleep and get into work late)

Giving attention (even throwing pillows) will only encourage them.

I have 6 cats and a dog, I leave my bedroomwindow open each night so cats can come and go. Dog is in the room.
My dog plays the gamemaster while the cats are trying to open cupboard.

I must be fast asleep only wake up when one of them is jumping on the bed but then is time to get up anyway.

My cats always have dry food (Hill's) available that prevents them from waking you up.

I have 6 cats aswell, they all sleep inside at night and are let out in the mornings, I feed them Go cat biscuits and Felix Meat with Gravy.

One of my Cats Mitch hates going outside but always wants attention, he generally knocks on the letterbox until I go and stroke his belly little twat

I love my cats though.

Our cat has constant acces to dry food (its the only food she eats) but in the morning she want us to point at the food and say "there you go" otherwise she doesn´t eat, I refused to do that and cat stoped bugging me after a week or so, but she still wake my gf up when I´m not home, by pooking here in the face with her paws. So you can "win" over the cat, just have to be darn stubbern and never do as the cat wants. My gf is to much of a softy to do that so she will never get a good nights sleep as long as we have this cat

my cat got urinary tract infection from eating normal dry cat food, so he couldn't pee, its happened a couple of times now, not cheap to get the crystals that were blocking his pisser removed. So we have to stick to the special dry cat food (expensive) and wet stuff.
