Self Moderation

Medium to long term I'd like to get General moderated by the community and therefore perhaps you should raise that question again amongst yourselves as to who should do it? I reckon 3 or 4 Mods should be about right and then I can remove staff from being the moderators.

This was discussed a lot a while ago, and in the interests of being proactive around here I'd like to bring it up again straight away.

Mainly because I'd like to put myself forward for it, and provide the space for others to do so.

I'm quiet, uncontroversial and I've spent the last three days going on and on about moderating without confrontation. I was also accused of making sense for saying so.
I've been around on BW forums for over four years now so I'm kinda attached to the place and would hate to see it fall apart irrecoverably.

I also moderate some small forums of my own, so I'm not a moderation newbie either.

I think a thread is needed to provide a general vote rather than everyone posting threads suggesting themselves, or perhaps to post proposed mods or something.

For me, i've never heard of you so why would i want you moderating a forum i post in?

Cama - He's perhaps teh most sane person here. Should be forced to change his name back if he wants it though

I think we should vote non sensible mods.. not ones that have sticks up their arses and are likely to get carried away with themselves (not saying that anyone of u who suggested yourselves have a stick up your arse).. otherwise the forum will be come too "sensible" and that cant be good.

on the other hand they need to be willing to take on the responsibility and not be too worried about denting their own popularity... in some ways I wonder if it's such a good idea us chosing our own mods...

it would be good to identify the people who we would "respect" as mods.

It would give the "powers that be" a good indication of who would be more respected if they get the nod for modship.

Tdc, Embattle, Xavier would all be good sensible choices.

Summo might be able to "do a job too"

best thing for modship - people who have been around the forums for a while and are well known (and liked - sorry scooby/throddy )

That's why Cama and Embattle are good choices. The latter is boring, and already considered to be a "spoil-sport"... The former is too sensible to care what others think about him

They wont care at all if people hate them for having "the power"

I think that the mods should be chosen from the general forum by the users of the general forum. BUT their mod status should remain anonymous such that no one actually knows which 3-4 regulars were chosen. That way no one can have a go at them.
