Scout vs Hunter

he will have around 2400 effective hp.

Lets say a high rr hunter will have 1800 hp and ap3 which
equals around the same 2400 hp.

So its mostly spear+pet vs 1 handed slasher in terms of raw damage. The scout does have a significant disadvantage in melee
at even spec, at high rr. Hunters on top of this have 'immunity' to scouts stun and crit due to pet.

Hunter, ranger, ns and sb all have the option to negate 1/2 the defense of the shield, and 3 of these classes has access to ap, which at high rr means a lot. Those 3 classes also will most common spec in weapon which scout is weak too.

Its not like scouts are so gimped they cannot be played, but they are the weakest archer class 1on1.

va fan snackaru om? håll käften för fan! pröva spela sb efter 1.62 istället... din jävla tomte.

which means...what are you talking about? try to play sb post 1.62 instead...your...eh

I dont really care about sbs, like you did not care about archers
pre 1.62. Btw you just about the only sb left with see hidden,
you still cant live without the easy mode can you ?

This was a post about hunter vs scouts, not about you being df'ed and owned despite your BB's.

Self Buffs are worth little on a hunter, it's still disputed that the AF buff actually works. The 41 AF buff that you get for specing 32 Beast Craft is the same as you'd get from a level 31 Shaman.

The 34 dex/qui buff that you get for specing 32 Beast Craft is just a bit higher than the dex/qui buff you get from a level 14 Shaman (31).

Speed 99% of the time will NOT get you out of trouble because if you're in Emain and someone sneezes in Snowdonia it drops. It's best used to catch someone without using any end up, usually when you've popped a wolf on someone who's stupid enough to try and out run it.

The wolf I find very useful in preventing stealthers using stealth or popping them out of it when I have used TS. Though the Wolf can get you into trouble, the wolf is probably more fun than the shield.

Range, like others have said, if you shoot someone at max range your victim will take three steps and they are safe.

The shield on a scout can't be overlooked, it can be sooo annoying to shoot a scout who just stands there out of Wolf range blocking all shots, and the slam "can" be an onebuttonwin option.

IMHO, If you want fun go for a hunter, if you want RvR superiority, go Scout.

I very rarely lose to hunters 1v1, blue/green/grey con pet whatever..

45bow, 34stealth, 12 :)p) thrust, 50 sheild (with lots of MoB).

Hunter bow skills are, erm, laughable vs Scouts, their defence sucks and the pet is just a gimmick with limited uses imo.

thats a RR7 hunter trying to shoot me, not even engaging ><

Scout > Hunter imo (and yes i have played both :p )

pet gives a smart hunter alot of options neither scouts or rangers get... better than shield spec and a bit more range? i dunno, just different i'd say.

i know i would sooner have access to AP than to a shield which is 50% effective vs duel wielding assasins...

ranger=hunter>scout imo overall

scouts got no spice.

Nope.. if the pet is infront of you, you will block 50% block rate against the pet even higher if it is blue / green or as I've seen recently greycon hunterpets will have 90% block rate.

The information about 2 attackers cutting block rate is not true.
You have to level a scout to realise this. it's 2 Attacks, not 2 attackers.

Hunters get the advantage if they can get the pet behind you. so the pet doesn't get any block / evade rolls against it.

Hunters get no bonus vs scout block rate ( unless they can play their char and keep the pet behind the scout)

Petkiting sucks because it takes too much time, 99% chance you/the target/both will get added on/zerged-killed in the time it takes.

would be nice if the pet didnt prevent the hunter from stealthing/speeding/using camo.

I think a lot of people underestimate the Hunter pet.
It isnt about damage, or killing people, its about annoyance.
There is nothing more annoying that to get a hunter to 10% HP with bow , just to have his Wolf run over and start interupting you.
Happened to me at MMG yesterday, started running towards the hunter and a fg mids burst through the doors and pwned me.

So i wouldnt say it was any better or worse than shield, just different. It certainly is a benefit to a hunter, especially for chasing people down as already pointed out.
