So you're seriously telling me that your everyday conversation on #quake2.uk in which you objectivify every woman you talk about (i.e. talking about breast size or lack thereof, what you'd "do" to these various women, etc) is due to peer pressure and a need to "fit in", when really, silently, you wrestle with your own inner angst and wish you could just be "honest" with everyone. Cmon mate, you're not fooling anyone.

I never said butter wouldn't melt - yes I talk about tits and arse and fit women and so on and so forth. I'm a bloke, I fancy (almost all) women. That doesn't mean I agree with the way the media portrays women. Lets face it, no one gives a fuck what I say about more or less anything but the media is rather more influential. They need to be responsible about what they put out there - I don't. If I actually thought anyone (on a larger than 10/15 people scale) was going to actually listen to/care what I've been saying then perhaps I'd mute myself.

Actually, no I guess I probably wouldn't. But the point still stands - if I go harking on about how Jessica Alba is the fittest woman on the planet - it's not going to make anyone feel bad about the way they look. The media constantly puts out images of slim attractive women that warps peoples self image. Not just magazines - TV programs, movies, adverts and so on.

As such they should be more responsible about what they put out. However, that's never going to happen as fit people sell magazines/programs/etc.

I never said people shouldn't care so much about how much they look/weigh. The point I was making is that there's these nigh on unattainable standards set by the media (christ I'm getting tired of saying "the media"). I was uncomfortable with the way I looked, sure maybe I shouldn't have been. I've never claimed to be enlightened/perfect whatever and as such felt pretty shitty about being a big fat heffer - I don't know why I was suddenly able to lose that weight but I was pretty glad when I did. Anyhoo, that doesn't invalidate my point - a point I won't bother repeating because you can just read up if you want it reiterated.
