I'm thinking of buying a Mustek Bearpaw 2448TA Plus from here here.
All I need it to do is scan some old 5 x 7 snapshots to a reasonable standard.
They are our local "offline" shop so convenient if it all goes fubar.
Any comments on the scanner?

I did notice in Tescos last night that they had some HP all in one machines for <£100 that seemed reasonable too.

Yuck,

to me (and Im no expert) one is much the same as another.

Ive had me old scanner for yers and still does the job. As long as you have a decent software package (i.e. Photoshop) then you should be ok

I have a fairly cheap Canon model - I think renamed LiDE 40 these days. It was around £70, extremely slimline, powered off the USB port, fairly quick and comes with a vertical mounting stand/bracket.

Quality is good, probably nothing outstanding, but still very good.

I saw those in Staples the other day, I was impressed at the slim design.

OK think I'll just toss a coin :)

If it's just some photos and you have the negatives.. you can of course have 'em processed onto CD at any decent photo processing outlet - they'll have a seriously expensive scanner too :)
