It only took them 11minutes to kill all the enemies in there (cept one)... and they where as ruthless to the hostages as they where to the terrorists heh.

Also, i thought "Flashbangs" where Grenades that exploded with a blinding light... or have i played too much Counterstrike? from what i seen, they where like smoke bombs

The best bit was when Mac of the SAS was describing them (the SAS) watching the news afterwards. He couldn't see the tv so shouted "move your fucking head" to "some bird with a big hairdo" and it was THATCHER rofl that was classic.

afaik the blinding light version is unique to cs - the normal sort make a lot of smoke and one fuck off big explosion - to disorientate peeps and basically make their ears bleed - nasty shit :/

I didnt actually watch the prog cos I was watching the commonwealth games opening ceremony (apart from being a manc a mate o mine was part of the artillery letting off the 21 gun salute) - wish I'd taped it tho.

btw - was anyone else watchin it a bit disappointed that the Queen didnt give the kid who handed her the batton any acknowledgement?

I actually thought the open ceremony was very good - better the rest I've sat through - but mebbes I've just got a reason to be interested, it bein local n'all.

Anyroad - I made a brief effort to look up flashbangs - as the name implies they are bright and they are loud - theres a brief description at http://www.swissmun.ch/e/security/security_text.htm - about 2/3rds the way down the page.

Designed to temporarily confuse and disorientate, if you've played Americas Army you would get a good idea of the impact they have. (dizzy, ringing in the ears, blinded etc)

I recall watching this "live", the newsflash came on and it all happened, surreal.

The key part was that a few years previous the americans had botched a rescue attempt when the Iranians held hostages in the Tehran Embassy, it was a kind of oneupmanship in hostage rescue missions between Thatcher and Carter.
