way to tired to go into details but...

flashbangs work by exploding with a blinding flash (like in CS) hence the SAS wearing blacked gasmasks.

Once the flashbang goes off and if you're unlucky to be near it you'll be temperaroy blinded for a few seconds. Ears will be ringing and your balance screwed up and you'll have a huge urge to grab your ears (hence dropping weapons). Basically a huge shock to the senses.

Only lasts 5-10 seconds but highly effective. I think you can buy one pretty easy, so grab one and invite some friends around and let it off .

<I know it's not *stricktly* linked but hey!> for the feelings of soldiers when killing and such read "for whom the bell tolls" by hemmingway, it's jkinda cool for that type of thing.

also I had a flash-grenade go off about 2 meters away from me when playing paintball in a warehouse near me. It well shits you up!! considering we weren't expecting it and it's as dark as hell when something makes a rather loud bang and a F00king bright light flashes it kinda makes you sit there and go "durrrr whats going on?"

we were there for about 5-10 minutes just sitting saying "what the hell was that?" until a marshall came up and apologised and said he set it off by accident!

since the flash grenade is a dodgy paintball contraption the real thing sound bloody mental!!!:uhoh:

That was probs similar to a Thunderflash, which is like a VERY big banger. In the dark especially it would shit you up

Flashbangs are packed wth phosphorus which burns fucking quickly and fucking brightly hence the name flash, its a bit like magnesium, have you ever burnt magnesium ribbon? i looked straight at the flame and i had a dark spot in the middle of my vision for a few hours after. It stuns people for a few seconds, just enough time for a couple of armed peeps to come in the room and hose down the bad guys. afaik they arn't very good outside like CS since the flash and the bang are reflected by the walls.

It is indeed... and magnesium burns very brightly too... I've seen and heard 'thunder-flashes' in operation... not something you wanna be near when they go off... A guy I know had one thrown at him, he tried to hit it away but at that second it exploded... nasty injuries he had...
