Its a New Frontier's thing - basically when you hit your cap you can't earn anymore realm points in Thid, but you can still earn them in 'proper' RvR.

So you can teleport to a keep thats under seige (no risk of getting raped by a stray AE) and use seige-stuff like boiling oil to kill lvl50's and get enough RP for RR2, then you can go back to Thid and as long as your still lvl24 you can still port.

Kind of sucks really, I hope Mythic will put a hard RR cap on Thid as well as the level one. The idea of having my toons steamrolled by sombody with Purge is most worrying.

from what i read if u go over the rp cap for a bg u cant port in to it even if u inside the lvl range (....u can still port at 350 rp but not at 351)./shrug

Please note the use of the "Its an NF thing" - they changed the designs of the battleground's so that you could continue playing after you've hit the RP cap, only you don't earn Realm Points for kills.

1.70 Patch Notes
- Players will be able to earn realm points in each of the remaining battlegrounds, however, there will be a limit to the number of realm points players can earn in each battleground. After they have reached this limit, killing other enemy players will not grant any more realm points (players will still be able to participate in that battleground until they exceed the level cap).

i seen that what i was tryingto say was if in OF u hit 350 rp thats it u cant go thid any more ....in NF u can still go u jus get no rp ;P.....but if u get more than the cap rps ..351 for example, then u couldnt port.

thats the way i understood it anyway ,maybe i was wrong./shrug

Yep Brend you are indeed wrong, you cannot earn more rps if you have 350 or above in thid. however you can leech in real RvR and still be able to port to thid but you wont be given rewards for the kills in thid

That wouldnt be fair to people who want to stay in Thid. Its extremely hard to get 350rps and not 351rps. You can be on 349 rps and kill someone worth 4rps and be on 353 without wanting to overcap. :(

Surely having 350-353rps from kills made in Thidranki wont stop you porting back there as long as you are still level 24. Its just that when you do port back you wont gain another rp from then on. Thats how I understand it at least, wouldnt make much sense otherwise.

At present that is the case, if you go over Thid's cap at the moment (before NF) you won't be able to port in. However this thread was regarding the changes made in NF which are being exploited by people. So really OF doesn't really have much to do with this.

Back on topic, i'm hoping Mythic add the RP cap back in at RR1L5, that way you'd still be able to go to Thid - but not intentionally be able to gain any huge advantages such as RR2, guess I can keep hoping on that one :)

In the case of Old Frontiers (everything prior to patch 1.70 which is currently being Beta Tested on Gorre) you'd be right, once you hit the Realm Point cap - thats it. Your out, you'd have to reroll in order to carry on.

However in New Frontiers (everything after patch 1.70 which is currently being Beta tested on Gorre) the system was changed so that as long as you fall within the Level Requirement you can port to your relative Battleground.

The Realm Points cap hasn't been removed as such, but instead of losing the ability to travel to Thid you lose the ability to Gain Realm Points in thid.

However! (again) - you can still earn Realm Points Outside Thid, which has brought about the rise of people playing in Thid being Realm Rank 2. As long as they fall within the level restriction of Thid (lvl20-24) they can continue to teleport there, they just won't earn Realm Points.

I hope that clears up any confusion, if it doesn't i'm going to hate to start beating people around the head with trouts, possibily Salmon.

Today i used the [realm points] command from the gold and glory npc's on Gorre, to get my level 24 infil to RR2L4 (which apparantly is the ''realm point cap for this level''). I tried to port to Thidranki, but after equiping my Battlegrounds medallion and talking to the Visur i wasnt able to port there. No message was given as to why, he tried to port me but i was just left standing on the pad.

After a few more tries i deleted and rerolled my inf back to 24, this time without gaining any realm points, and was able to port to Thidranki without a problem.

I haven't read any patch notes, i'm not trying to dismiss anything that has been said before in this thread and i havent spoken to anyone who plays NF on a live server. I'm just speaking from the personal experience i had today when i tested it out on Gorre.

Thats still gonna piss people off who are legitimately trying to level / gain RP's in the BG's.

I know i won't like it if a RR2 mid. alb, or hib comes back just for the sake of killing, or getting his mates RP's (which will be the main reason).

However, having said that, its just like 'proper' RVR but without the RP's...

I was under the impression that max realmpoints followed your current level up to 40ish. Had an inf on pryd once and here is what I learned:
Ordninary rvr, no bg's.

Level:28 Max rr 1L8
Level:29 Max rr 1L9

And so on. This was awhile ago so don't shoot me if it has been changed.

To stop people becoming far more powerful than their level would normally allow, I would imagine.

Yup - i can confirm this. I tried to create a 5 toon, then a 24 toon on gorre, then aimed for higher RR than 350 RP's would allow for BG's and it wouldn't let me.
