Got a 1) Netgear FVS328 and a 2) Netgear FVS318 Router.

1) got a xxx.xxx.3.xxx network
2) a xxx.xxx.5.xxx one

2) is connecting from it's WAN Port to a port on 1)

PCs from behind 2) can access the network of the first router just fine, internet, file sharing etc.

Firewall on 2) is disabled, yet PCs from 1) cannot access any PC behind 2).

Tried a static route, but still can't get past 2), but can ping it (atleast)

Get the feeling that 1) just doesn't know where to send requests for the .5 network.

What's causing this ?

its on a different subnet................

if both routers are configured to use dhcp, change the scope on 1) to say user x.x.3.10 to x.x.3.20 and on 2) use x.x.3.30 to x.x.3.40

as both subnets are the same and the dhcp on each router wont assign an ip that is already used by the other one then every ones a winner

voila...

why not use the 1st router as a dchp router and the 2nd as a hub ?

Router 2 is probably hiding devices behind it and using NAT itself, so they'll be able to access everything on Router 1 but will probably appear with Router 2's IP address.

Unless you really need another full router for your network - use a switch instead.

hrm, the WAN Port being locked down by a NAT sounds reasonable, but a tad bit annoying that it doesn't get disabled when the firewalls gets shut down.

Oh well, guess I have to move them back into the main network.

Thank you all for the answers.
