sure they said the harpoons had fired and had retracted not sure about the drills but i know the thruster failed

The harpoons don't retract. It's either the drills or those that've worked.

Edit; Just watched a bit - says they "rewound" - I presume they increase tension...

It's weird - I read something saying that the harpoons cannot be refired and that they were a one-shot deal. Now the beeb's on about refiring them...

How hard can it be for journo's to get that right?

I'm reading they don't even know where it is.

They do now. Reestablished contact and it bounced a couple times landing but is stable now. According to the radio anyway

Yep. Apparently may have bounced up to 1km in height!

Stable now but not anchored. Harpoons didn't fire, drill hasn't been done.

So - landed despite *all three* mechanisms not being used or outright failing!

I liked one of the heads of the project's statement last night when saying it may have bounced - 'we didn't just land on a comet once, we did it twice!' :D

Reminds me of a scifi short story I read where an astronaut is stranded on Phobos and takes giant leaps of kms long to stay in the sun as it rotates.

Why the hell should he apologise. He should just tell them to fuck off.

Worse - it was his mate that made the shirt. I think she's a woman :)

Well done Mass Media Inc. for confirming you're a bunch of scandal hunting cunts.

So, it's alive again :)

They also will most likely be able to pinpoint it's location too as it's radio signals will give it away.

So, bounced over a mile, landed in a hole, survived sub-zero temperatures for ages and now working again due to "more sun". That's a triumph of engineering right there :)

I am pleasantly surprised by the media interest.
All space probes need a marketing team writing twitter reports and anthroph...anthromorp...making them seem alive.
Sceintists may scoff, but they are there for mankind and we need a connection outside of nerds discussing spectral analysis.

yeah, what @chipper said tbh. the fact that this automated beastie is alive again just fills me with glee. I hope that engineer/scientist guy gets to talk about it and wears an even more awesome shirt than last time :D
