I do like the fact that the blame MUST lie with the 'bastard' car driver, and not the stupid cat for running into the road.

I think this really is a little insensitive. I'm not a cat lover and so I cant really understand the overreaction in many of the posts, but people do become attached to them.

Would you say that if it were a stupid child running in the road?

I appreciate that some of you do not understand what people go through when they lose their pets. If you feel this way please refrain from posting insensitive remarkes on this thread.

As much as I would never wish harm on anyone to those who cannot appreciate what Tom may be going through and decides to be insensitive, I dearly hope that on the day you lose something you dearly care for you reflect back to how you have posted here today and do not come here looking for sympathy or well wishes.

May I also point you to the part in the coc which says:

If someone shares a little personal information then please respect this and don't take the piss out of them for doing so.

We had a puppy golden retriever once. Bought him from a pet shop... Big mistake. It died two days later. They sold him to us knowing that he was sick. He didn't even have a name yet.

Pet shops are only good for goldfish and hamsters, and them spastic little birds that shit everywhere.

And the relevance of this is?

Like I said I dont understand the attachment to pets personally.

This was a what to do with a dead cat post originally and I posted the correct answer. If you want tea & sympathy go see a priest or whatever else you want to believe in, if you want practical advice, see my first 2 posts.

Sawtooth, it's not appropriate to direct your comments at Yoni, given her post was simply as a mod and not directed at individuals, per se.

Call me a big girl, but its difficult not to cry when I think about her. I was in tears when I dug the hole, and more tears when I moved her into it. Its not nice laying a cold, wet, stiff dead thing into the soil, when previously it was a warm, loving, playful pet cat, that I raised from when it could stand in the palm of my hand.

I get upset when looking at the patch of earth she is buried under, so perhaps I should make use of the 'ignore' feature on these boards, since some people clearly have no capacity to empathise.

Thanks to all that posted nicely, those who have lost pets will understand.

we lost one long time ago - went to the vets and never came home.

Man, that sucks.

I have lost too many cats (4 now + 1 close shave) to fucking cunting bastards who drive too fast to impress their fat slag g/friends or whatever!

Bleh, thinking about my dead kitties has made me all melancholy now...~wanders off to snuggle the sole surviving cat~

Pets become part of the family, whether it be Cats, Dogs or whatever else, and when you loved one and it gets taken away from you in an instant, part of you does feel hollow.

I know this because my cat was shot, perhaps if she was run over we could have said "Yeah, it was an accident, it does happen unfortunatly", but when someone intentionally sets out to maim/kill a living creature, i hope they get haunted by the souls of a thousand animals.

But anyway, some of you have seemed to take some swipes, why not leave out? Perhaps now isnt exactly the best time to be taking them. I didnt see a problem with Sawtooths post, wont bother reading it again to see if it makes sense, but there was 2 or 3 others who have been doing it for a while on these boards, isnt exactly that acceptable?

If you dont like animals, or just intend on making swipes, go elsewhere?

Sawtooth my post wasnt directed at you in the slightest. I was pointing out to those who have mocked that this is not the time or the place to try and be funny etc etc etc.

But when he gives it out it's all fine and dandy?

Just because i didn't feel the need to spill my WHOLE life/action for the day on here does that mean im not one of the "Cr3w" so i am allowed to take the abuse but not give any back?

Yay, go go elitism!

When have you ever had something similar happen to you. In your post you intimate that you wouldn't ever consider posting something like this? Therefore you couldn't have had anything similar happen to you.

As for taking abuse, which isn't strictly what yoni was on about, I've not really seen much going in your direction. All I ever see is you being grumpy.

I don't see a similar post by you on td's or xtro's threads, which are of similar ilk.

It's not moral high grounding, it's just something I find a bit distasteful. Like in the cancer thread, where Toto makes a joke about how hoovers suck, but you don't see him complaining, when someone's just talking about how much cancer sucks after losing someone to cancer.

I have a very dark sense of humour, but I try to keep it to myself when people are upset. In real life I quite often say the most utterly inappropriate things in the wrong circumstance, but that's because my mouth is ten miles ahead of the part of my brain that's screaming "NOoooooo! UNDO! UNDO!". Online, you actually have to think about a response, and type it, and then submit it, which makes it that little less understandable.

Sorry to hear that Tom :(

I've lost 3 cats over the years, its never nice, I would agree that getting a new kitten would help to cheer up your other cat.

On the other hand people make light of things sometimes in order to cope.
Im not sure that posting here is good therapy for such a loss particularly in this arena. Cats or people, its all too personal.

Yeah, but that's up to them to set the tone then. And if we can't talk about anything other than the frivolous, then it's all a bit superficial then really.

So sorry Tom :( Could your cat get out of your garden? They get run over so often, I found my best friend's cat once, such a shame....kinda glad my cat always refused to go outside.

We always buried our pets in the garden and they have been fine.

Your other cat will probably pine for a while now, my Mums cat pines when my sister goes away, but she'll be fine eventually. Or you could try getting her a friend, would she accept a new cat?

Have you ever had a pet?

If i say no, you'll say i couldn't understand then.

If i say yes, you'll say i'm just a heartless bastard(or some some).

So...i'll answer that yes, but also that i don't mourn even the death of a loved one so...

And it has nothing to do with not caring or being cold.

Don't you think that's a little......strange?

I get upset over anything, mourned for days over the death of Dumbo's mum.... :)

Strange in a sense that it's not like most of others think. I could say it's strange to mourn, anyway, it's a way of life thing...no sense in arguing.

Though dumbo's mum had it coming! Gray tub o'lard was due to the gluefactory. :D

Sorry to hear it Tom, losing a cat is shite indeed. :(

PS: Humour is ok! Just you need to be funny. Any attempts at being light-hearted in this thread were, tbh all poor, rashly thought comments of no humour whatsoever. If you're going to be a bastard, try harder. The state these days! Clown's comment about spastic birds was great (m8) though.

Say hello to kitten v2

The other cat is less than impressed, but so far they've been quite inquisitive about each other. No fur flying yet, so hopefully they will get along ok.
