It can be personal (the blood the sweat and the tears hopefully all the laughs as well) or just your views on the past 12 months

The Triumphs
  • Seeing my son grow into a fully fledged 1 year old in Jan
  • Eventually starting a small business off
  • Spending another year with my wife who is a constant rock in my life
  • Learning Kung Fu from the highest ranked master in Europe-truly a great honour
  • Watching my local team lift the premiership
  • Realising that life is too short to be a stress head all day and every day
  • Finally admiting for the first time in my life that my Dad is a complete wanker who has hurt all the people I love and has done more damage to me than I could contemplate
  • Seeing Bon Jovi at Old Trafford. Waited 15 years to see them live and they were not a disapointment
  • losing loads of weight

The Tribulations
  • Seeing nations at war for all the wrong reasons
  • being a mega stress head
  • not having the balls to pack in work full time to start my business off
  • see point 7 about my Dad
  • Not finish reading LOTR before seeing Return of the King

All in all I give 2003 a good 7 out of 10. Merry Xmas everyone

2003 has been the worst year of my life -

1. Samm split up with me.

2. Dad had a stroke.

3. Mum got diagnosed with womb cancer.

4 Its taken, and is still taking 7 months to buy a shop.

5. couple of things I don't wanna say but they upset me greatly.

On the plus side -

1. Mum has had her womb removed and is kicking ass with her recovery.

2. Dad is alive, but still annoys me with his 40 fags a day/whiskey habit.

3. Me and Samm got back together and its better than ever.

4. Shop should be bought before Xmas........hopefully.

Not a great year, but I won't complain :-

Pros
Coming off my Anti-Depressants
Cutting down on my drinking
Seeing my Sister get married to a great guy
Putting on lots of weight
Finally getting contact lenses

Cons
Breaking up with my girlfriend
My ex-girlfriend's constant indecision regarding a new start
The recent possibility that I could be out of a job in the new year
My Granddad not recognising me for putting on loads of weight and wearing contact lenses.

2003 hasn't been great for me to be honest

Bad/sad things

1) Got back with Polly (my 1st love) and then split for good in August
2) First time in 17 years that I am single
3) Had to move from a 4bed semi to a 2bed flat
4) My best friend is moving away from the area
5) I reach 35 in 2 days
6) Mum was diagnosed with secondary bone cancer after beating breast cancer (she lost one :( )

Good things

1) Love my flat
2) Got 2 great kids who are growing up fast
3) Quite enjoy being single as I don't have anyone nagging me
4) Mum's cancer is under control and is very low
5) Spent a cracking week at my sisters in August and really bonded with her again
6) Since the split with Polly have found I am closer to all members of my family
7) Made loads of great friends and renewed some that had grown stagnant

2003 is the worst year of my life aswell. :/

Although it's the first year i've gone out on the piss alot and generally had a good time, too much bad shit has happened.

The Shit:

a) Mother was diagnosed terminally ill, with 1 and a half years
b) Fathers job is in serious jeopardy since engineering is dying rapidly in the Western world
c) I've been single a whole year :/
d) Had a bike nicked
e) Fell off of a bike
f) A couple of mates have turned into utter arseholes
g) Grandfather passed away
h) Second year of college was complete fucking bollocks
i) And some other less important shit too...

The not so shit:

a) Umm, i still have my health! :/
b) Umm, i got paid a fairly healthy sum today! :/
c) Umm, i'm learning to drive! :/
d) Yep, stiiiiiill struggling here; ah yes, there were a couple of good houseparties inbetween.

I am seriously determined to make next year decent. :(

edit:// I find peace listening to Zero 7 - This World

Another child is born..
Another race is won..
Another dream is shattered..
Another day has begun..

This world is still afloat
No not in Noah’s boat
We’ve only lost the vision
Of the stars we’re meant to be

Another broken heart
Another lesson learnt
Another harvest eaten
Another night is gone
A new day’s begun
Even your dreams they can be real

This world is still afloat
No not in Noah’s boat
We’ve only lost the vision
Of the stars we’re meant to be

This world is still afloat
No not in Noah’s boat
We’ve only lost the vision
Of the stars we’re meant to be

This world is full of love
We still have hope
This world is full of love
We still have hope
This world is full of love
We still have hope
This world is full of love

Bad :
Failed first year of college
Had a gf who i thought was great, untill she became a bitch.
Seeing my friends stab me in the back over a girl
Having to go on medication.
Realising that if i dont buck my ideas up i'll be in a dead end job forever, which was bad as i was quite far down the slope, so was hard to crawl back up again.
GF cheating on me

Good:
Learning to drive
New college course, so much better
New social group of friends, many lovely girls.
Finished medication, now the 'problem' (nothing serious :p) has cleared up and the girlies love me again :D
A,B,A in exams
Realising that girl (point 2) is a fucking bitch, and i don't want anything to do with her (which is hard to do, but will be worth it)
Spending less time on P.C, more time out, socialising, being young.

My bad points are very small when compared to others, i feel a bit selfish now.

Hm lets see...

The Bad (Why is everyone starting off with the bad first? :p)

1) Mum mugged at brothers Graveside (fuckers)
2) Brother gets beat up, by his wifes "new" boyfriend. Leaves him in serious debt.
3) Work stress... Really depressing me :(.
4) Stop losing weight coz of work.
5) Still no Xbox!

--

The good (wtf is that?)

1) Get my first ever job
2) Lose about 6/7stone in a Year
3) Get a 4*4
4) Attempting to get new job (Maybe new year tho)
5) People caught for crime against Mum.

Im sure theres more... but cant think of any offhand now

cons:

Good
Started new job only 10mins drive from home. (no more commute into the City).
Thriving in new role.
Kids and Wife healthy.
Bought virtually everything I wanted in the year without money worries.
Had great holiday in Hong Kong and came back without SARS.
Got given 10 days paid leave by company after they discovered I had been to HK ;)
England getting to Euro 2004 and winning Rugby World Cup.
Discovering more about Korean cinema and how wonderful it is.
Stunning new PA started recently at work - sitting in my line of sight.

Bad
New job is far far more stressful and longer working hours than old one.
Taking 8 months to win over the most important member of my team at work. (She initially applied for my job before I joined and therefore had issues).
Missing socialising with my old buddies at my previous workplace (including twat features dysfunction)
Aston Villa doing so so so shit last season and once again this season. (ELLIS OUT FFS!!)
Still doing virtually no excercise.

Man

I am sat here reading all this, listening to quality music and it nearly brings a tear to my eye.

I haven't met many, if any of, you but I still wish you the best.

A long time ago myself and Ted started BarrysWorld and we wanted to build a community. I think we achieved that, many of the old faces have gone, many new ones have arrived but still it thrives.

May 2004 be the best year yet for all of you.

/me grabs a tissue :p

Plans to join the Marines underway.
Finally realised that my old "mates" are backstabbing little kids.

Bad:

Parents just as fucked up as usual.
Being caught in the middle of yet anouther court battle.
No cash, ever and cant find a job :(
Family more or less disowning me over marines.
Relationship with my dad going downhill even more.

But being depressed sucks! HOORAR! :D

No, I don't expect anything apart from a bacon buttie and a cup of tea on Sunday morning - IE. Breakfast in bed from the boys!!!

TDC doesn't realise we gotta go shopping for food like bacon and shit yet :)

Yeah 2003 for me really was shit.

The niece stuff and now my sis has turned into some monster that i never see.

All in all a shite year with a few plusses but nothing outweighing the poop.

I sit to type this as Wife brings my little girl out the bath (she's 7). I say my norm "Hi worm" as shes wrapped in a big towel and reminds me of a worm. Then I forget any probs this year had.

2003 was/is great. Roll on 2004 for more of the same.

Have a good 1 all :)
