shut it kait :D
jup seems to be enjoying this as much as me

[Back in Flame Mode]
I have no problem with roleplayers
Infact some of my Closest friends on the server are the Founders of parp. I exped from 42 to 50 with them and had alot of run.

I'm saying if people want to RvR (END GAME DAOC) in emain then let them. If you Roleplayers wanna hold an Event i don't complain- as you said i even turned up and helped raise 700 gold towards the event + i donated 2 items which got 1.5 plat

If people want to RvR in Emain then I have no objection whatsoever. In fact, I have seen quite a few guildies who wanted just that leave PL and join LoE (that's a different flame though, and I'm not doing that subject any more :p). However, if you have an alliance where 8/10 guilds don't want to RvR in emain, and would rather play a more defensive role most of the time but 2/10 don't want to play the defensive role and prefer to run around emain it is bound to cause 'discussions' about it in /as and ultimately cause problems.

I believe the strength of the Unity alliance is in the fact that the guilds involved, for the most part, all share a similar philosophy to RvR, and particularly to realm defence. Believe it or not (with a few exceptions, of course) the Unity alliance channel is clear of flaming and arguments these days and mostly dedicated simply to important RvR information or announcements.

Your snide comments about the limerick contest are really misplaced. ...

I would suggest that your reactionary stab at roleplayers is perhaps the kind of attitude that caused problems back when LoE and SotL were in Unity, and would further comment that if your attitude is typical of other LoE or SotL members then it would be unlikely that your guilds would get along very well if they were to ally with Unity again. Remember, that is merely my opinion. [/B]

Just for the record, from someone who knows neither side of the "argument", just as an interested (bored, rather :p) reader: Bubble's comment on roleplayers seemed neither "snide" or "reactionary" to me, just stating an example really ... :D - but then I am not English, might have been missing some connotations, there .... - just wanted to point this out as an "uninvolved" observer, to maybe mitigate some potential misunderstanding, ... :p

/edit: PS: Forgot this is a farewell thread, so farewell then and best of luck for whatever your future holds ... (even though I don't know, really :D )

So what your saying is that Unity turned into a defensive based alliance due to 2 offensive based guilds (LOE &SOTL) leaving.
RvR is a vital part of this game, so both Offensive minded Guilds and Defensive minded guilds would be needed. Besides :) keeping the hibs and mids in emain keeps them away from our relics too :)

I don't think there was a sudden shift in what most Unity guilds were doing, we just didn't have allies not helping us anymore. Sure, offensive action is often needed, and when they want to Unity can usually put together a decent attacking force, but in general you would find that most of the guilds in Unity have gained most of their RPs in Albion's frontiers, not Hibernia's.

And of course, feel free to keep our relics safe by mezzing all those enemies in Emain :D

This has nothing to do with Servants of the Lake, by the way.

I agree with Jupitus, Unity are like minded guilds who want to defend Albion and not farm Emain 24/7, and I agree also that other guilds talking about their Emain farming (positional information relayed across /as constantly) would be extremely annoying to people who do not want to farm in Emain.

Unitys choice not to reaccept LoE is Unitys choice, I fail to see the point in slagging off Unity and Jupitus further unless your planning on alienating your guild further.

I really dont think this is the place to debate such things, and I dont see LoE GM's stating what you are.

As for people agreeing with Visit re: LoE and SotL relationships, well, thats really nothing to do with Unity and hence Jup's retirement post.

Btw. Sad to see you go Jup. Despite what Bubble thinks, you did alot of good in Albion, and it will be remembered.
Good luck in whatever you do and take care.

... and is sorry to be losing one of the most level headed and reasonable people in Albion. Sorry if it didn't always seem that I felt that way about you, but I do have a rep to think of you know ;)

I really think you've got the wrong opinion with some of your comments Bubble.

As I recall LoE then SotL left due to an outburst by Tyrion at a whole realm meeting who seemed to believe that Jupitus and PL had some political agenda behind the meeting. After several snide and Sarcy comments he got in an arguement with someone not in Unity (might have been Desdecado I think) and then decided to insult Unity and ask how to withdraw from this "chickenshit" alliance.

Following that Unity continued the meeting and a month or two later Jupitus and the rest of us got together with the Eternal Circle Alliance and Knights of Albion alliance to form what we have today. Not everything was totally smooth and a couple of guilds from Eternal Circle decided that they wanted a more open /as where they could happily talk to other guilds. So they went their way and are still doing fine. There was no bitterness with this as we all approached it with open eyes.

Thus we now have a strong alliance, a pretty much spam free /as with very little if any interguild problems. The alliances outlook has just become more strongly what we always were - a much more defensively focused alliance who will defend our realm when attacked (note this does not mean we will continue to assault a mid/hib held keep who have loads of people logged there just for farming purposes in case you had any ideas! ).

From my and GoP's point of view we switched our focus almost entirely to Albions frontier and specifically Beno. We held Beno for a long time whereas before it had always ping-ponged about. This also increased our enjoyment a lot more bringing new life into the game as we defended HW.

Unity is not a dictatorship (although Laird might try and make you believe it's his alliance ;) ). No-one in Unity has ever made decisions on their own and if you still believe there is some political agenda going on I'm afraid you're sadly mistaken. I credit Jupitus with being someone who has always put realm and alliance before any personal agenda and despite what you might think, actions like a realm wide guild meeting and merging several alliances together were all made with the idea of benefiting the realm.

I would say that Unity is very much happy as we are and do accept like-minded guilds joining us (as seen by The Rigante joining us very successfully and Praetorian Guards are now in a joint trial period with us while we iron out working together. Dark Llama Knights are also about to join us on a joint trial period).

They are my view points
no one elses
Not LOE's

As for tyrion.....if you know him you know outbursts and rash choices are commmon including the good old let kick bubble from LOE before i have nothing better to do. His Personly views don't reflect everyone in LOE just liek mine don't

The choice to leave unity was Voted by all officers and was talked about...tyrions little show was a bit early through :)

Lords of England still try and Hold Events with other guilds- like Our Resent legion hunt with GoP and DLK.

Be good, eh?

You're right, G, for once :)

Time to turn out the lights. Thank you to every single one of you out there. I have loved this game, put heart and soul into it even, to the point at which I am totally drained.

To all of you: Take care, be good, enjoy yourselves and have fun.

<Walks to the door>

Be nice to one another, eh?

<Bows>

Jupitus closes his eyes preparing for the glare, and yet as he opens the door his inner eyelids don't flare pink at him as he expects from the outside world. Slowly he steps outside and quietly closes the door behind him, before walking slowly and carefully off into the darkness he hoped wouldn't be there......
