Arma isn't actually short for Armed Assault though, it's a latin word for 'weapons of war, war, defence, tools'.

Why wait for Opf2? Arma 2 is the *true* sequel made by the people who did Opf1 and it's out in a couple of days. Runs quite well on an 8800GTS apparently, so you might not need to borrow God's own PC to play it.

ah fair does, its usually written as ArmA tho, so it may be dual purpose

arma was very buggy tho, so we shall see with arma2 :\
review i saw of Arma2 said it was a bugger of a machine hog

Hmm, I've read otherwise from comments on youtube vids. People saying they're getting away with an 8800gts on medium settings and it still looks pretty natty. I guess we'll see when it comes out.

I started playing DoD:S a couple of months ago, almost by accident, and have got strangely hooked. Found quite a nice server to play on, and am having fun. Odd thing is that for the last couple of nights there has been someone called Jupitus on there, but it seems it is not our very own Jup!
