MS???

24" dell all the way. 2407 is the latest model I believe. Once you got 24" widescreen you'll never go back.

Hi WiZe^

Try checking out 22" LCD monitors as a good compromise between size and performance. They usually match 19" panels for brightness, contrast, and response time (around 2-12ms depending on how it's measured), but you get a higher resolution (1650x1050) and obviously a larger viewing area. The price of 22" models tends to be around £150-200 in the UK, so there's not a huge jump from 19" displays.

Just one thing to note, a higher resolution display requires a more powerful computer to play games at the 'native' resolution. You can run games at lower resolutions, but some image quality is sacrificed.

Kind regards

Jonty

P.S. Ch3tan, the 2408WFP is just about to be released. It improves the brightness, contrast, color reproduction, and adds HDMI and DisplayPort into the mix. I don't think it's worth upgrading from the 2407, though, as that's still one of the best displays available. Personally I'd like the 3008, but it's about £1,000 even in Taiwan :(

Just steer clear of Viewsonic. I have a VX922 that I've been besotted with, but it's just decided that it doesn't like 75hz and stopped working. Works fine in 60hz but I've noticed a flicker on that which is fairly unpleasant (even though LCD's aren't supposed to get that afaik). Still in warranty, talk to their support team should be fun :\

Update:

DO buy viewsonic. Their warranty support was AWESOME, I just spend 4 minutes on the phone, explained the problem "oh yes, that's definitely faulty then. What we'll do is send you a replacement and if you could pack up the monitor and hand it to the courier when he gives you your replacement".

This is the way these things should work, and I've always moaned about that when I have to deal with warranty people but I've never actually expected it to be that way.

Oh, and I thought it was 2 years warranty on this screen but it's 3! I aer happy bunny!

In checking google, apparently there's a fairly serious design flaw with it. If you attempt to set it to higher resolutions/refresh rates than it can handle (even though windows should prevent this) it can cause permanent damage to the screen. This seems a little wacky given that most other screens simply come up with a warning saying it can't display at this res/refresh. Anyway, despite that I was thoroughly impressed with the warranty support.

I also have the viewsonic VX922 and so far its been briliant. Had it nearly 2 years and its been on most of that time.

No dead pixels, no ghosting in games, no loss in contrast or brightness.

Its just great!

I think the contrast is really 5000:1 if measured the usual way.

Available here (probably not the very best UK price):

LG L227WT 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black

But you'd need some sort of review to confirm it lives up to spec. So if ur in no big rush then maybe worth looking out for press reviews of this.
