Lol Edmond, I'm sorry, I couldn't resist :D.

Glen was someone called I_am_Glenn or something who used to start threads on subjects that were already threads about on the very first page, sometimes just two or three threads apart. It was more Dave's thread I was referring to on the Glen part :).

Since then, a "Glen" is a retort usually to indicate something that's already been posted (or old).

This post is a Glen.

I think that whatever happens here the continuing trend of "shit song for christmas number one" shall continue.

They should have picked/targetted Bing Crosby - White Christmas or something classic.

The record labels will fix it that Joe wins so Simons ego is fed for Christmas :(

They don't have to fix it, I don't think any of you truly understand how hugely x-factor CD singles sell at xmas. I was at woolies for every single x-factor release so far, nothing else comes close to selling in that volume.

Didn't 'Michelle' or whatever her name was a few years ago prove X-Factor win doesn't always equal a Christmas number 1 or a successful career? Hasn't that always been the double edged sword of X-Factor and Pop Idol? The winner doesn't always get that number 1, some times the runner ups have done better.

She was pop idol, and she went to number 1 too, but pop idol was post xmas.

Like I said, aanyone thinking RATM has a chance has no idea of the volume of sales the Cd single of xfactor will make.

I will give a £5 to a charity of choosing if someone would like to make a counter bet, that x-factor single will beat ratm to number 1.

Ok Chet, let's make it interesting.

If it goes to number one, you need to donate £5 and have sex with that home made sex doll in Wij's thread.

Are you still confident?

No way Jo's not getting to number one. As Ch3t has already covered your stereotypical x-factor watcher is going to go out and buy the cd's, all the girls screaming after Jo will be getting the single for chrimbo. Plus he's a Geordie and he's destined for glory.

If it was a christmas song, that was going up against him, I would support it. Because I think christmas number one should be a christmas themed song!

I'm not making a bet I can't fufil, and I'm not willing to make my own doll. The bet is a fiver to charity to anyone that will take it.

Calean has already lost one charity £20 bet to me and is going to lose another £20 bet this season so I doubt hes in the mood for any more charity bets, he isnt that good at them :(

How can you approve of the idea behind the campaign, when the idea is to make Cowell and Sony more money? Do people still not get this?

Lots of people still don't get it, and think that by thinking it'd be "funny" that they haven't fallen for a massive ploy.

Also, can people make sure they reference Glen as Glen, and not Glenn. I am Glenn, and although I recently posted a duplicate thread, we are different people. :D

I was hoping that Mumford and Sons would be number one, I can actually see that becoming a bit of a Xmas classic along the lines of Fairytale of New York.

YouTube- Mumford & Sons - Winter Winds

Great song.

The other stuff I don't care about, I care more about my itchy anus in all honesty.

heard them talking about this on the radio today. Pisses me off when I keep hearing "Joe really deserves a xmas number 1" how exactly does he deserve it? My friend is in a band and him and his brother work their arses off all year jusdt to get small gigs, then this little fagboy comes along and wins a stupid competition marketed for the Jeremy Kyle brigade and everyone thinks he deserves to be a star.

Yes I know I'm stating the obvious but it still pisses me off.

19 million people watched the X Factor final. I wonder how of those people who bought RATM have been busy watching X Factor and commenting on it the past few weeks? :p

Of course, the best way of campaigning against X Factor being #1 is by buying another Sony music group record.

I heard rage were on 5 live to perform. They were told not to sing the line "fuck you I won't do what you tell me" can you guess what they did?

Someone needs to call Alanis Morrisette and tell her that's ironic.

Chuffed it beat X-factor but to be perfectly honest I'd have bought a steaming pile of shit to beat the X-factor single and give us something a bit different for the Christmas number 1. Being nearly unplayable on radio is just a bonus!

I find all the false indignation just as funny as the freaks on facebook, does it affect you in any shape or form?

Who cares who got to number 1, at least a decent amount of money has been raised to go to a very worthy charity...
