Random quote generator

I have been asked to add a random quote generator to my works crappy intranet. Is it possible? If so does anyone have any information as to where I can learn how to do it.

Do you want a database full of quotes and then you pick a random one or do you mean a load of random words stuck together?

What languages are available to you?

erm tbh its just a basic html site, more for staff information than anything else. one of the engineers collects quotes made by staff members and thinks we should have a quote generated on the bottom of the front page.

The generator at the bottom of FH seems like a pretty cool thing but I dont know if that would be easy to incorporate into the simple site.

could easily be done with PHP, or your language of choice, and a DB or text file


hell, even javascript


what can you run on't server?
