Oh, that premier league...
To be fair that premier league is not full of over paid useless cunts that think they are speshul and roll around dying when they run into a fly.

AI generated information posters that everyone and their mum appears to be using.
They did one for our village fete, it was hilarious, an army of clones with at least 3 bouncy castles in the background.

Ai posts on Facebook. There was one I saw this week about battery powered boats on the canal network, charged by solar panels on the towpath. Except what's actually happened is that crt has installed some solar powered studs on the towpath to aid people walking at night.

Most of the replies to the post were saying how wonderful it is. And it's fucking shite.

Cat got hit by a car last night.

Found out via a Facebook community post. Luckily we got to her body quickly as we saw the post. Taken to an emergency animal hospital and cremated.

Shit day.

Very sorry to hear that, a car was what finished my last cat off. Not easy...

Plant something in her favourite spot.

Going into Tesco and seeing a Downs Syndrome guy volunteering laying on the floor cleaning underneath the shelves, something I've never seen the 'normal' staff do.

This 'volunteering', 'training' or 'work experience' abuse of disabled people needs to stop, it's disgusting.

Stop telling them that their life is pointless unless they work.

You really should read Flowers For Algenon. I think you'd really enjoy it. Fucking brilliant book and describes exactly this situation (amongst others).

Will help you understand both sides of that particular shitshow. But in and of itself a fucking amazing book.

Whilst I'm with you for most of your post - work can give meaning. Disabled people can work, just like anyone else. And they should, if they can.

Absolutely, but like all people, but more so, Down's Syndrome people will do whatever you want if you give them enough praise, it doesn't mean that it should be abused for them to do roles like that where they're essentially free labour.

I know I keep beating this drum, but I really don't see the sense in the massive educational investment for them to be free labour for big corporations.

I feel like maybe the money would be better invested into private businesses to give special needs people meaningful roles.

I suppose actually, you don't need the money to go businesses - if you look at special needs cafes, they tend to do pretty well, because they employ special needs people.

Oh aye. I think there's merit in that.

But then, where's the cutoff? Sorry love, yer lad has an IQ of 74, so he's not going to school, he's going to corpo-farm to polish bronze bellends for the rest of his life. Trust us, once he sees his face in the shine he'll fucking love it.

His brother can go to school though. He's got an IQ of 75. So he can be the fucker that gets bullied for holding everyone else back.

And, of course, they're separate from the world. And we know where that ends up :(

Problem with Downs is the severity is so wide it's very difficult to judge what's appropriate work-wise. Mate of mine's daughter is living pretty much an independent life and has a regular job, but my father-in-law's neighbour's kid (man in his 30s actually) needs pretty much 24/7 supervision.

What we can control is the abuse of "volunteer" (e.g. little or no pay) bullshit. Was it Waitrose who'd had a lad doing that nonsense for like five years or something?

Yeah, Tesco does it too with local colleges/schools with special needs kids - usually has 1 worker from the school and 1 worker from Tesco following them around...

Never seen a Downs person ever actually employed by any supermarket though...

Looking to upgrade my phone..

Don't want anything fantastic, look at ID Mobile 'upgrades' - £20 a month with a £29 upfront cost for a Pixel 10a and earbuds.

Carphone warehouse offering the *exact* same deal, but £14 a month and a £9 upfront cost.

Amazing, frankly.

Seems presumptive of you to assume he's being abused. If he's happy doing it, and if his employer is getting value for money, I don't see much of a problem - even if it's something you find unpleasant.

Children enjoy being given tasks to do, even hugely mundane ones. Perhaps some disabled people also take pleasure from these responsibilities.
