Last time I got stopped in UK I gave the copper my UAE license, he tossed it back through the car window saying, "you gotta be f'ing kidding me!, Slow down!" Then left.

I got chased for years by NSW police for a speeding fine I picked up outside Sydney. Was never going to pay it and the copper who stopped me assumed I wouldn't.

On the other hand, a friend of mine with a German driving licence got hit by three secret speed cameras in Switzerland (they disguise them) and was banned by the time he got back home.

I actually thought the UK reciprocal thing was already live because a Garda told me it was live when I presented him my UK licence after getting pulled a few years ago, and told me he couldn't do anything to me as I had a UK licence, but "I was lucky I wasn't in France". (unfortunately I had to switch to an Irish one a couple of years ago).

Sandwich toaster/grill thingy broke . Wife goes to buy a new one this morning, comes back with a large US style Fridge Freezer with Ice maker and a sandwich toaster/grill thingy. A 200 AED purchase turned into a 5200 AED purchase in the blink of an eye

Most uk companies have a 3 sickness a year policy. dunno about you but I wouldn't waste one of those on a cold. they're reserved for heart atacks and semi vicious hangovers.....

It gets worse, found out this morning that the 5,000 AED Fridge Freezer she purchased was actually 5,995 AED. I told her your supposed to round up at that point not down! Then an hour later a guy arrives at the house to measure up for new curtains in the lounge. Another 2,400 AED. Then to make my day complete she tells me that she ordered new sofas, 3 seater, 2 seater and chais lounge thing. Another 16,000 AED in the space of 24 hours!

Im pleby jobs where yr at the bottom of the rung you are more likely to see those sort of conditions cause you are easily replaceable. Any job where you have some type of skill it would not apply me thinks

hahaha! sounds like what happened to a mate: he came home from work one day and his gf had had a new couch, living and dinner table delivered without him knowing. he looked at the couch, complained it was fugly as hell and asked what retard had picked it out. sooooo then he had to sleep on said couch for a week because her nibs had picked it with her mum based on his own (sarcastic) descripton of a good couch!

Seriously, yeah I get a good bloody good salary and package but I'm director level in a growth market and in a semi tax free country. Say semi because we do pay tax it's just through other things, 300 GBP a month on water and lecy bill, food prices, housing tax, hugely inflated rental prices 20-30K GBP p.a. for a villa in Dubai! The Middle East used to very good for expats but the new deals people get are not so great. I'm very lucky and I know that but I have to work damned hard to keep it. 12 hour days pretty much 5 and half days a week. 17 years with the same company, working my way up from a field support Engineer role.

Not a sob story, nor a silver spoon. I am aware how it might seem to people in other parts of the world but don't judge when have no idea of the life or what I have had to sacrifice to get it. Apologies if it comes across as somehow being a rich bastard, not the case at all. I still have a mortgage and car payments etc. Luckier than most, possibly.

One of our ferrets died on saturday. Had him five or six years. Was sad. Glad my mrs didnt go retail like yrs tho lol
